During an interview with ABC News on Friday, President Joe Biden said that he realized he was doing poorly in last week’s presidential debate when he noticed that “even when I was answering a question, even though they turned his mic off,” his opponent, 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump, “was still shouting. And I let it distract me.” Biden elaborated that he isn’t blaming that for his performance, but that caused him to realize “that I just wasn’t in control.”
ABC host George Stephanopoulos asked, “And how quickly did it come to you that you were having that bad night?”

If you're in the ballpark of my age, you'll no doubt remember the harassment and abuse former President Reagan was put through, including by Dennis Miller on SNL.
That turned out to be a winning strategy. Trump realized Joe was digging the hole and he stepped aside and let him at it. Also Biden repeatedly throughout the debate called Trump a liar, Trump never called Biden any name. He took the high road.
He would have won the debate if it wasn’t for those meddling MAGA kids and their dog!

Nice try Biden and I suppose there are some Democrats who will actually believe that. But they had a split screen with Biden on one side and Trump on the other and Trump is not shouting. He’s silently looking over at Biden and wondering what the hell is this idiot babbling about.
I think Republicans should impeach Biden. Force Democrats to defend him. Don’t allow them to simply walk away when it’s convenient.

I also thought Trump showed molto class, deferring to the mods before answering.

Joe, in his diminished cognitive state is not remembering the last debate. He is thinking of the debate in 2020 when Trump would comment on his answers.
