Kamala Harris’s team is concerned that Democrats will install a white candidate ahead of her to replace Joe Biden, arguing that it would be “offensive” to black voters to overlook her should the president stand aside.
Mr Biden is facing calls to step back from the race over concerns about his age, after a disastrous television debate performance against Donald Trump on Thursday.
The Biden campaign, which is a joint ticket between the US president and Ms Harris, has dismissed calls for him to step aside for a younger candidate.
However, allies of Ms Harris are frustrated that she has largely been excluded from the list of possible replacements, arguing that it would be “offensive” to overlook a black woman for the job.
Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer, the Democratic governors of California and Michigan, have so far been at the centre of speculation about a replacement nominee.
“The fact that people keep coming back to this is so offensive to so many of us,” an ally of Ms Harris told Politico.
“They still don’t get that the message you’re saying to people, to this Democratic Party, is, we prefer a white person.”
Another source added: “If they think they are going to get through South Carolina bashing an effective and qualified black woman vice president — their instincts are as bad as I thought they were.”
Ms Harris’s team has pointed out that her race may allow her to appeal to black voters – a core demographic for the Democrats that has begun to shift away from Mr Biden in recent months.
Data from the Pew Research centre shows 77 per cent of black voters say they are leaning towards voting for Mr Biden in November, down from 93 per cent that supported him in 2020.

Biden is done. Bet on it. Too many prominent Democrats have suggested he’s brain damaged. They can’t walk that back. They have to remove him, and they will. The only question is when. If they’re smart, they’ll do it immediately. If Kamala’s going to be the nominee, she might as well be the president first. That leaves the question of Trump, and his sentencing on July 11. Biden’s collapse makes this a much more perilous moment than it was. At this point Trump is not just the Republican candidate, but effectively the presumptive president. If you’re going to put him in jail, it had better be for a very serious crime that everyone agrees he committed. Otherwise you risk destroying the system completely and forever. We’re in legitimate danger. Democrats need to pull back.
That’s one of her biggest problems.
Everything comes down to what color you are, as far as Kamala is concerned.
An open convention is a better solution.
Let the delegates decide.
Kamala will have to compete just like everybody else.

Replacing Biden with Kamala would be an own-goal for them, and they know it.

A black women who's done nothing but embarrass herself in the 'job' since day one. If they want another marionette in the job like Biden then I guess she's as good as any. Problem for them is, no one wants to vote for her because she's made a laughing stock out of herself.

She cackles at her own comments and doesn’t speak lucidly. Nobody is that dumb. She’s medicated in some way. “Community banks are important for the community because they’re banks located in the community.” ?? She’s drugged up on something.
If Newsom is running, he'll win. The only catch is that Harris is next in line. And Newsom is a White man. Can't do it that way.
Her comments about artificial intelligence were hilarious.
She kept talking about “machines”.

I am with her. Biden said he would pick a female POC, and that’s what he did.. If she good enough to be #2, why not #1?
The fact that her political career should never gone any higher than something such as library board member is beside the point.
Biden has to voluntarily pull out or be 25th amendment removed before they could have an open convention. All those delegates are already committed to vote for Biden. If Biden holds on then he already has the votes to get the nod. I think Biden WILL pull out of the race before the end of the month and at the same time release all his delegates, but without that, he’s a Titanic steaming towards a huge iceberg... An iceberg named Donald J. Trump.
When it comes to which democrat should be the next president, it matters not as long as the Obozo continues to be calling the shots behind the scenes. All of this democrat hysteria over the brain dead Jobama is fake. It’s only theater for the sucker libturds who are buying it.
