Attorney General Merrick Garland called attacks on the U.S. Department of Justice "dangerous for our democracy" on Tuesday as the GOP-led House prepares to hold him in contempt of Congress.
"Continued unfounded attacks against the Justice Department's employees are dangerous for people's safety. They are dangerous for our democracy. This must stop," Garland wrote in a Washington Post op-ed.
Garland has refused to turn over an audio recording of President Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur for the investigation into Biden's handling of classified documents.
This prompted House Republicans to hold him in contempt.

I wish they’d just be honest and just say “this is dangerous to Democrats” which is what they mean.
I have considered things at length and I believe the root problems is that Democrats confuse the word Democracy with the meaning of the word Hypocrisy.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the attorney general and the Department of Justice are appointed offices. Having our elected representatives question their motives or investigate their actions (or failures to act) is completely appropriate and necessary in a functioning democratic system. As we have seen, appointed offices are much more prone to act in dictatorial ways if not properly checked.
