A FOX News poll shows enough support from Florida voters to pass a constitutional amendment that would enshrine the right to get an abortion.
TAMPA - There will be two big amendments on the November ballot, which are expected to bring a lot of voters to the polls in Florida.
The Florida Supreme Court ruled in April to let voters decide on whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use and whether to give access to abortion up to 24 weeks. The current laws for marijuana are only for medicinal use. The current abortion laws just tightened in the state to a six-week ban.
A new FOX News poll released Friday shows both amendments could pass, with 69 percent of people in favor of the amendment for abortion (Amendment 4) and 66 percent of people in favor of legalizing marijuana (Amendment 3).
FOX 13 spoke with voters both for and against each ballot amendment.
For expanding abortion access: "When we hear about these polls that show that the vast majority of Floridians support access to abortion, it's not surprising that it's consistent with over a decade of research on this subject. And it is consistent with what we see nationally. The only people who believe that abortion access is a purely Partizan issue are politicians who shouldn't be involved with the process of trying to dictate what's best for medical care. There are only two choices this November. You can vote yes on amendment four and end Florida's extreme abortion ban. Or we can keep this incredibly restrictive and harmful law in place and allow politicians to continue to interfere with our private medical decisions," said Lauren Brenzel, Floridians Protecting Freedom.
Opposes expanding abortion access: "I think once the word gets out, that what this amendment actually does, that it's not just making abortion legal or illegal, that it's really stripping away these protections that Floridians have voted for, for decades. I think once that word gets out, we'll be successful. We're months left from the actual election. There's a lot of work to be done on the pro-life side, on the vote no side, to get the messaging out about what this amendment actually does," said Scott Mahurin, Pro-life Volunteer, Do No Harm Florida.
For legalizing marijuana: "It's promising to see cannabis reform finally becoming a bipartisan issue. And when I say bipartisan, I mean having Democrats and Republicans as voters, and come together and support this (12) // 03:17: "cannabis is a safe drug and that when it's properly regulated and patients have saved in quality and affordable access, it works. It increases property values, it helps the economy. And this is going to be a great thing for Florida," said Chris Cano, Suncoast NORML.
Against legalizing marijuana: "People who want to vote for it, go to California, go to DC, go to New York, go to Colorado and see what it's done to their cities. And I think the tourism is going to plummet. Do we really want people riding rides and attending Disney World that are stoned? … I don't really pay attention to polls. I think if people pay too much attention to the polls, the 2016 election may have been very different than it was," said Teresa Miller.
Part of restoring individual liberty is to allow people to make their own choices. Just fix the economy, clean up the military and make sure we have a strong national defense, reduce the size of government and cut regulations.
Those are the fundamental principles of conservatism. Let the social stuff to personal choice.
“These are pretty significant numbers.”
I doubt a local Tampa TV station has the capability or the inclination to do a valid poll.
Still, public schools have been churning out students that can’t think straight for decades and decades. There is bound to be tons of people out there that don’t know right from wrong.
It will probably take a $20 million dollar ad campaign to defeat each of these threats and I don’t know who will do it.
“Just fix the economy, clean up the military and make sure we have a strong national defense, reduce the size of government and cut regulations.”
In other words reduce the marginal capital gains tax rate; and if parents want to kill their children, let them kill.
That will make us great?
No. That will cause us to forfeit our appeal to heaven.
Here is the ballot summary text for the abortion amendment.
“Ballot Summary: No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary
to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not
change the Legislature’s constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor
has an abortion.”
It does not restrict abortion access after 24 weeks! Note this section “or when necessary to protect the patient’s HEALTH (not life) as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.” That pretty much allows abortion up to birth as no restriction based on weeks in utero is given. It also does not define which healthcare provider makes the determination. It could very well be the abortionist. Health is not defined either which leaves it a very broad avenue to drive dead fetuses on.
I live in Colorado. Legalize marijuana at your own peril. The Libertarian “live and let live” philosophy has destroyed this state and is the root of a ton of evil. You cannot give evil any quarter, no matter how benign you may believe the latest click in the ratchet is. “I don’t care what people do in their bedroom” was directly responsible for paving the road to hell that now includes rampant homosexuality and “transgenderism”, open indoctrination of children into degenerate lifestyles, and persecution of anyone who dissents. Similarly, “What’s the problem with a little pot?” has created an explosion of abuse of all forms of illicit drugs in Colorado, and an avalanche of crime and other consequences related to it.
There’s no such thing as a little evil being OK, just as you can’t allow a little poison to be introduced to your drink. You either hold the line or end up opening the door wide to the full panoply of consequences.
Pot makes you horny so this is logical.

Florida is the swinger and now porn capital of America. So abortion liberalization will pass.
Not good.
No laws to break= no crime. Easy-peasy.
Killing unborn babies is an abomination.
In some good news, an abortion center in Democrat run Broward county shut down last week!
Every week pro-life people from LoveLife marched and prayed to the death mill. Prayers were answered last week!

If the GOP was willing to fight a political war they would put these on the primary ballot. When the Mi pot one was on we still had a Republican SOS. Had she done that it might have saved us from the 3 witches.
Red states are an endangered species.
Welcome to post-Christian America, where getting high and killing your children are the greatest blessings. The country will be overrun by Islam within two generations and people will stupidly wonder how it happened.
This is nothing more than a ploy to get Democrats who are apathetic about Biden to the polls in November.
If that is the case, Biden has a better chance of winning FL than Trump has of winning NJ or NY.
Strange how they never ask questions about the government, taxation, or daily life in America. It’s always about issues that are desired or neutral to the left. And the gloomers and doomers, many of them deliberate spies and sabateurs, jump on the thread to say we will lose Florida and all is lost.
If we are that far gone, and abortion is the main issue for every election for all time, this land deserves God’s condemnation and is beyond all healing. Ignore this gaslighting garbage. During Reagan, they produced daily polls wanting a nuclear freeze with the Soviet Union, and you guessed it, abortion. They even said Reagan would lose to Mondale.
A recent poll had Trump leading by a mere four points, in a state that re-elected DeSantis by twenty only two years ago.
I don't believe it though. I think Trump will win Florida handedly.
Heck, Trump might even win Virginia! Right now, they're tied at 48% each. That's a state Biden won by ten points in 2020 and Republicans haven't won since GW Bush.
Biden had to open up a campaign office in Virginia. That's how worried they are.
HERE’S AN IDEA: CONVINCE MILLIONS OF WIVES THAT RAISING A FAMILY IS STUPID & WORKING OUTSIDE THE HOME IS THE WAY TO GO. AND IF A BABY IS CONCEIVED, ABORT IT!
