US Congressman Says Holding Current Territory Best Outcome for Ukraine
Sputnik News ^

Posted on 05/03/2024 12:25:21 AM PDT by pigeoninthepark

US House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith said that holding on to the territory currently under the control of the regime in Kiev is the best outcome for Ukraine, given the realities of its conflict with Russia.

Ukraine must hold on to approximately 82% of its territory, including access to the Black Sea, in order to consider the outcome of the conflict a success, Smith said, according to a Foreign Policy report released on Thursday.

The Biden administration has avoided making such a statement because it does not want to admit that Ukraine might have to relinquish territory to Russia, Smith said.

Slowly but surely our government is changing the narrative because they know Ukraine will have to negotiate with Russia

If we had shown Russia goodwill with its concerns of Russian ethnics, Ukraine would have lost far less territory and we could have discussed how to compensate Urkraine for any losses of land.

Instead, we had a war and Ukraine lost more because of it.

Just my two cents, but what I think will happen is Russia will gain more territory in the eastern areas before the Dnipro river but will not be able to deny the Black Sea access.

Yep. Division at the Dnieper River, but Ukraine keeps Odessa.

“If we had shown Russia goodwill with its concerns of Russian ethnics, Ukraine would have lost far less territory and we could have discussed how to compensate Urkraine for any losses of land.”

In fact, Russia didn’t want Donbass, which is why they delayed their military operation for 8 years (until the Neocons left them with no other option), as it was there for the taking in 2014. Crimea is different, and would have been difficult for Ukraine to seize it from Russia...but Russia was ready to talk even about Crimea.

As it is, you’ll see the Operatives here claim the above is BS, but they know the same history as we do, so we’ll get more of their attempts at re-writes, but it’s all out there for people to see, as most has NOT been scrubbed by them (yet), and it was written in the WEST, not by Putin operatives (although ‘Putin Operatives’ pretty much say the same).

The key for anyone wanting to look up the history is to be SURE that you discount anything after 2022 from the West (when the operation began), as that is when they attempted to re-write things, for obvious reasons.

NATO is going to join this fight. Its inevitable now.
And when it does. it wi;; be over in a week. Russia cannot defeat NATOs air assets.

Will it mean Russia using nukes? No, Russia will not use nukes unless Russian territiory is invaded.

Here in the USA we are sick of paying, so the Euro weenies will have to step up. Biden is done.

US Intelligence briefing getting a lot of air play overseas the past 24 hours is that Russia is going to make a major breakthrough in two regions.

Russia recently brought 10,000 reserves up to the frontline and immediately took 5 towns unexpectantly in two days time. Their were 100,000 new soldiers brought in and the Russians have still not used 90,000 of them.

As we get closer to July, when Russia freshly mints another 300,000 troops, and their new FPV drone factories reach 50,000 monthly production, they will increase another 250,000 soliders in theater. They are sending 30,000 to Syria and 20,000 to Africa.

Macron threatening to make the Foreign Legion a speed bump, or as he says a trip wire. Macron’s trip wire is being met with Russian promises to immediately target them as the priority target in theater. Macron HAS TO SAY SOMETHING because Russia is backfilling three African countries that France has “owned” and the humiliation is too much. The French Foreign Legions are not really outfitted for high intensity manuaver warfare. According to my lifelong friend who spent 5 years as US Special Operations Liasion in the Foreign Legions, similar to US Airborne forces or light infantry.

They won’t even be able to hold the territory they currently have. They’re running out of men and starting to lose territory faster. The whole idea that they’d be able to achieve stalemate for a time is 2 years out of date. Half a million of their men are dead now.

That is very confident of you. That NATO can attack Russia and defeat it in a week, and that they would accept defeat and could not use nukes. Nothing in Russia history supports that… nothing. And no, our air power could not defeat them without conducting supporting strikes inside Russia for SEAD.
Last, they have officially annexed the Donbass and Crimea as Russia proper.
You’re a bit out over the tips of your skis.

They could negotiate keeping Odessa only of Russia hasn’t already taken it and if they settle now.

Otherwise I see a rump state.

If a Russian was quoted it might be considered propaganda.

I thought you opused out of here after you insulted this site’s owner and other Freepers while making a fool of yourself?

You are a globalist troll for sure.

Likely true though the point made is valid. Or is there some game-changing armament or tactic that is about to be supplied to the Ukraine that will turn the tide and make the Russians have to negotiate from weakness?
If the Ukes started hammering Moscow and other major cities deep within Russia with large loss of life and infrastructure, would THAT change the dynamic here? I have no idea if that is on the table or even possible? I do believe that the US has large missiles that could be tipped with high explosives instead of nukes and given to the Ukes to fire upon Russian cities in ALL of Russia. Would THAT move the needle towards helping the Ukes? Or provoke an unpleasant response?
