Neither Timber Creek High School sophomore saw Keller ISD’s decision to cancel their performance of “The Laramie Project” — which included more than 70 students — coming. Students plan to voice their concerns to the school board Feb. 29.
“I was a little blindsided,” Sampson, 16, told the Fort Worth Report. “It was a role I really wanted to perform. I was a little dejected when I heard it was being canceled.”
“The Laramie Project” is a play that recounts the aftermath of the murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student who was beaten and tied to a fence outside of Laramie in 1998.

Two of my grandsons graduated from Timber Creek, but a few years later when it was time for my granddaughter to attend high school, my son said hell no, she won’t go. Private Christian school it is.
I can remember when one of the big selling points of buying a house here was that KISD was the best around.
Sad how it only took a few years to destroy a school.
Is there any other kind of playwright these days?
Actually a play about Matthew Shepard would be good if it showed his true life which including dealing drugs, child molestation, drug use, etc. However, truth is like kryptonite to the story of Matthew Shepard. Oddly, a gay author, Stephen Jimenez, wrote the “Book of Matt.” He wrote the truth.

Just as the Stonewall Raid was because of their mob ties, not because of the gays in there.
Yes. I used to live in Keller about 15 years ago. It was a very conservative community - the entire Northeast Tarrant block of mid-cities communities is/was conservative. Liberalism destroys everything.
That myth was destoyed long time ago.
Good one
Exactly. When I was in high school, we did Oklahoma and Brigadoon. The classics are never out of style.
Don’t apologize. It’s encouraging that I’ve seen him mis-named twice, today
Sampson likes boyz, huh? Freak.
was a little blindsided,” Sampson, 16, told the Fort Worth Report.
Blah blah blah..sit down and shut up.
No one cares.
Or the HS version of “Les Miserables”
by his sometimes lover.
“I wonder who put the students up to this. They did’t do it themselves”
Most school plays are selected well in advance by the drama teacher because it takes time to prepare. There’s purchasing/licensing and approvals. There’s breaking down the script by the director (usually the drama teacher). There’s budgeting and scheduling. Auditions. Picking cast and crew. Rehearsals. Marketing. Building sets. Making costumes. Purchasing props.
Often plays are selected a year in advance, and there is an approval process.
Exactly
Who updated the list?
And that’s the important part people keep forgetting. Thank you!
(That, and the fact the media were trying to pin this murder, so-called “lynching”, on conservatives.)
+1
