COLUMBIA, South Carolina — Donald Trump defeated GOP rival Nikki Haley in the South Carolina primary Saturday night, securing yet another win for the former president.
The race was called almost immediately after the polls closed at 7 p.m., with Trump securing all 29 winner-take-all state delegates. With some 65 percent of the vote in, Trump was up by roughly 20 points.
“This was a little sooner than we anticipated. And even a bigger win than we anticipated,” Trump said to applause on stage at the state fairgrounds in Columbia moments after the victory.
“I have never seen the Republican Party as United as it is right now,” he said.
The former president notably did not mention Haley at all in his remarks.
Trump was joined on stage by several South Carolina Republican leaders, including Sen. Tim Scott, who, despite being appointed to Congress by Haley in 2013, endorsed Trump after he dropped out of the primary race.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, who has endorsed Trump but has butted heads with him in the past, was heavily booed by the crowd when he was introduced.
Haley — who was a two-term governor in the Palmetto State — was banking on doing better in her home state than she did in Iowa and New Hampshire.
In her concession speech Saturday night, Haley congratulated Trump on the victory but said he is not the Republican candidate best suited to beat President Biden in November.
She also announced she is not going anywhere just yet.

60% support likely wins him all 50 state primaries.
bkmk
Still wondering why Trump continues to praise Linda Graham after all the back stabbing.
Bump for tomorrow. I will tie this back to what I remember as the dramatic turning point in the 2016 general election campaign.
Poor little butt hurt Lyin Ted, and DeSanctimonious supporter.
Here is a little Sanford and Son for ya to get ya through the night. Obviously you ran outta booze this evening LOL!! ‘Trump and Son https://youtu.be/iL3V7xQxqy0?si=8pzxlh0v2QfhiOSe
He needs to USE him. That use goes one way.
Az is completely corrupt
Yes, stanne, I understand that and the new state chair recently admitted that they’re broke.
However, I think Wren’s insider experience would prove beneficial in overcoming the odds
I’ll be waiting. 🙂
Stop
I am so tired of those like you who continually complain about the way Trump speaks.
Trump did more for this country in 4 years than all the nice cordial Republican Presidents have done combined.
Yes, I now include he accomplished more with less than Reagan did, and I am a huge Reagan lover.
“he is a far more disciplined politician and knows how to keep his mouth shut.”
You must be tired clutching those pearls. Such a fragile flower.
I really like how Abbott kowtowed to the cartels for years before he discovered his family jewels a couple months ago. We don’t need a weakling like that in the White House.
Abbott is a shrewd guy. He didn’t alienate himself from Trump voters the way DeSantis has. He also seems to have a penchant for thinking outside the box and knowing where and which battles to fight.
He has a couple of other things going for him.
1. The Wheelchair makes him look sympathetic to some women voters
2. He’s avoided controversy during his terms as Governor, nobody has anything really bad to say about him, even if they disagree with him.
3. He did a good job of walking the razor’s edge during COVID. He shut the state down but then opened it up quickly once the disease was found to be not as severe as first reported. The COVIDians can’t really criticize him or the anti-COVID people. Or if they can, then about equally.
4. He IS the national leader on border issues. This would play well in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and even California
5. While I like DeSantis’ policies and wish him well, he can come across as a Used Car salesman. Abbott has a much more low-key, for lack of a better word, respectable persona.
He isn’t running and hasn’t even talked about it, but I could see him being nominated at a convention if something happens to Trump.
>> Haley seems to be hoping lawfare works and takes Trump out.
Nikki Haley is a ghoulish venomous reptile.
I don’t disagree with you. But Trump has considerable bombast in his personality. It hurts his image. He needs to learn how to shut up sometimes
Only for whining Karens like you. I love his bombast. Newt used to be that way in 1994.
29? I’m sure SC has 50.
She also announced she is not going anywhere....
Hillary still around shrieking her views....
Many people suffer from chronic back pain and painful arthritis.
Some things hang around whether we want them or not.
Notice the dropping out of Chris Christie and the massive shift of his supporters over to Haley wasn’t quite the political tsunami some expected.
LOL.
Many thanks.
