LaPierre and an NRA executive must pay a combined $6.35 million, the NY AG said.
After five days of deliberations, a jury in New York on Friday held the National Rifle Association liable for financial mismanagement and found that Wayne LaPierre, the group's former CEO, corruptly ran the nation's most prominent gun rights group.
The jury determined that LaPierre's violation of his duties cost the NRA $5.4 million, though he already repaid more than $1 million to the organization.
LaPierre, staring forward with his hands clasped in his lap, sat in the first row of the gallery while the jury read the verdict.
The New York Attorney General's Office sued the NRA and its senior management in 2020, claiming they misappropriated millions of dollars to fund personal benefits -- including private jets, family vacations and luxury goods. The accusations came at the end of a three-year investigation into the NRA, which is registered in New York as a nonprofit charitable corporation.

Just imagine, if you can, if conservative AGs went after their political enemies the way demonRAT AGs do.
New York, the state where rights and liberty go to die.

Wayne LaPierre was charging $200,000 every year to clothing expenses
C’mon, that’s responsible use of your dues?
Go after Planned Parenthood.
I hope this verdict, which seems entirely fair, will start the NRA on the road back, but from what I'm reading there will have to be a massive housecleaning.
LaPierre should have been ousted ten years ago.
“Wayne LaPierre was charging $200,000 every year to clothing expenses”
The $200k a year in clothes, the private jets, and vacations is not the concern of the State of New York, it is the concern of NRA members across the country, who donate money to protect the Second Amendment.
Having a guy named LaPierre as your leader, regardless of his character or skills, is a questionable choice unless the organization is the National Quiche Foundation.
Having New York do something the membership should have done years ago doesn’t say much for the membership.
Will he pay back millions and please leave?
True.
NRA’s version of Liberace?
I can see them not getting involved in other issues on which the membership might disagree. However, when it comes to immigration where millions of "refugees" are streaming in from countries with no 2A, refugees who will eventually be able to vote, I think the NRA should take a law and order stand against it.
Yeah, but WayneBo has lots of nice suits.
GOA is laser focused on original intent.
NRA runs good programs, but their legislative is questionable at best. They routinely support RINOs which dubious 2A voting records. They supported D challengers to Ron Paul. Go to their site and read the open letter GOA wrote to the NRA BOD about 30 years ago. I don’t think anything has changed much.
Their youth shooting and other programs are top notch. I’m not so sure that gun rights would suffer if their legislative efforts ended.
It has been frustrating over the years to point out to members just how corrupt and ineffectual the leadership has been and be met with some versions “You are right, but I’m still going to support them because they are the good guys.”
Any investigation into BLM? Any investigations into any Democrat organizations? Mom’s demand action? Hand gun control Inc.?
At least Liberace could play the piano, and earned his own money
LaPierre was just pilfering the hard-earned dues paid by ordinary members ... that’s not good leadership
