Shocking body camera footage shows the disturbing moment a Tennessee Sheriff's Deputy was shot and killed by a man who refused to get out of his car during a traffic stop.

Assuming arguendo that what you say is true, that does not give the driver the right to shoot police. I can’t even fathom that defense.
When the immediately ask you to exit the vehicle and you ask why and they tell you they "smell weed" they know they're full of crap and you know they're full of crap and they're simply looking to make an arrest. This guy decided he'd had enough.
Some commenters here are phrasing this as a "dindu" problem. It isn't: I've seen the same "cash extraction" policing and police brutality in areas that are 99% white. It's all about the Benjamins and padding the stats. This is particularly bad where most people are poor and cannot afford legal defense.
There are numerous ways to handle the situation other than forcible removal from the front seat.
Depends on the state: in some states you can resist an unlawful order. Considering the fact they tased him three times, basically torturing him to get him out of the car, he was relatively restrained.
He was driving on the wrong side of the road. So if had a head on with a vehicle killing th family inside that would be too bad for them
Maybe he knew they didn’t have a dog, and was just stalling.
The first words out of my mouth in this situation are probably “I’m armed.”
Low intelligence combined with a high propensity for panic, hysteria and violence.
one imagines that if they refuse to get out of the car, the police will just let them go on their way, with no further repercussions ?
Your argument is used to justify disarming everyone. After all, if it saves a child, any amount of rights violation is Ok, right? Public safety uber alles!
“No. Cops are supposed to respect rights. These cops were on a fishing expedition looking for an excuse to arrest the guy for DUI and search the car.”
A traffic stop for driving erratically including in the oncoming lane is not “a fishing expedition”.
Police need to be held accountable for misconduct, but arresting a doped up driver who is into oncoming traffic is not “police misconduct”.
The police here don’t appear to be wearing body armour. I don’t understand that.
Canadian officers have worn body armour for 30+ years, in a country with a lot fewer handguns.
The cops were supposed to ask for license, registration and proof of insurance first. When they immediately ask you step out of the vehicle that’s good indicator they’re fishing for a reason to arrest you.
[...When they immediately ask you step out of the vehicle that’s good indicator they’re fishing for a reason to arrest you.]
Or they want you out of the car so you can’t grab a concealed weapon and shoot them dead.
A police officer is supposed to investigate, not presume, which is what they did and you are doing.
The video is edited. How do you know the cops didn’t ask for info, first?
They guy didn't threaten them or try to drive off or anything like that until they tasered him. They guy didn't do anything except refuse to get out of the car and they didn't even ask him for ID.
Jesus, really?
I have watched a lot of first and second amendment audits, at times the police can be seen doing a number of unconstitutional things to people. Unfortunately, the number of such videos on youtube and elsewhere has had some impact on the way people view police since at times the way the police treat folks is absurd.
The Supreme Court has ruled that during a traffic stop you must exit the vehicle; some people don’t know that. No matter what it is always best to do what the police instruct on a traffic stop and work the beef out in court.
IMO the smell of pot thing is absurd because some states have legalized the stuff but stops like this can be money makers for the locality doing the stop. Fines, vehicle storage, etc. Another reason this happens is asset forfeiture that is another big money maker (billions) and a thing that has been abused by law enforcement at times.
I’m not justifying what this shooter did, I’m only wondering if some of this “war on drugs” crap is worth even one LEO’s life.
As far as his appearance, my barber has tats like that guy and is also huge. He also has a wife and two kids and wouldn't hurt a fly.
And was this even a criminal offense? In most places a traffic ticket a civil offense. So one cop dead, another wounded, and guy with murder charges over a civil offense.
Now that's professional policing! /s

My feelings and any support I can offer goes to the families of the three law enforcement officers gunned down last week.
There was a situation a few years back where state troopers and local police were about to draw down on each other over who had the "right" to confiscate a trucker's money. Ridiculous.
Last I heard he's STILL trying to get it back.
