Senate negotiators on Friday reached a deal on a proposal to overhaul the asylum system at the U.S. border with Mexico, clearing the way for Democratic and Republican Senate leaders to begin the difficult task of convincing Congress to pass a national security package that will include tens of billions of dollars for Ukraine and immigration enforcement, as well as funding for Israel and other American allies.

Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, the lead Democratic negotiator, posted on social media Friday that a deal had been reached and that text of the bill would be released over the weekend. Senators are still working on finishing the rest of the package, which was initiated by a request from President Joe Biden for $110 billion for wartime aid for allies, domestic defense manufacturing, humanitarian assistance for conflicts around the world, and managing the influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

We both agree with repeal of the Seventeenth.

Article V would truly be a bigger scam than a border deal.

No one in their right mind can possibly believe that those folks not adhering to the Constitution now would be moved to compliance with just one more amendment.

The real Senate Problem is Governor Abbot of Texas. He vetoed the immigration portion before it passed. The veto was accepted and magnified by many other governors.

The entire congressional process is now obsolete. For Congressional Republicans they have a new and powerful lever.

I’ve been a proponent of two year terms for glorified Representatives for many years.

The lack of a two year term should have torpedoed the seventeenth amendment from the git go. I’d call it fake and fraud ratification at best.

Same old same old. The public is sick of sending tens of $billions to the most corrupt place in Europe, they are also sick of the invasion on our Southern border. The solution: An “immigration reform” measure (which no one seems to know anything about) which just happens to include 10’s of $billions to be shoved up the hog’s ass of Ukraine. Washington doesn’t really care about the invasion since they aren’t doing anything about it now, but they do care a lot about sending money to Ukraine. It’s always about the money in Washington, and little else.

If the socialists are enabling or creating legislation, it surely serves their cause. Said differently, if Schumer is anywhere near it, look out.

No bill is needed. The potato brain pretending to bt POTUS can shut the border at his discretion. He doesn’t want to. He never did. He made that clear on Inauguration Day.

It’s up to Governors to take what action they can to duct tape the border together until Trump can fix it. Provided that the GOP actually helps him, educates the public, and the margin of victory is enough to overcome the socialist fraud machine.

Odds are not good.

Governor Abbott calls it a border and punctuates it with razor wire to keep em out.

President Biden calls it a suggestion and punctuates it with free stuff. to get em in

A straddling Congress, with this bill, keeps the word border while, at the same time, makes it a suggestion for up 5000 migrants a day to keep themselves in Congress

Isn’t that the way it always works during election season?

(You can count me in with the razor wire crowd)

I’ve already reached out to my Representative, Dan Meuser, a solid conservative.

He told me he supports Trump and closing the border, along with deporting illegals.

I trust him, and I don’t trust many politicians.

NO NO NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO!

Just enforce the laws on the books and that will suffice.

If they want a border bill, make it a clean one. Nothing else should be in it. Also, it needs to be put up for citizen review and comments before it is voted on. It’s our border!

“...a deal had been reached and that text of the bill would be released over the weekend, so few, if any, American Taxpayers will see it.”

Why not release it and vote on it during The Superbowl?

What a bunch of feckless Quislings we have running things these days! *SPIT*

Any time “Republicans” agree to a deal with the DemocRats, you can bet that the losers will be the citizens.

Congress continues to give up their power to executive branch. The bill should say the border will remain closed. Not at Executive branch discretion.
