Biden opens up lead on Trump amid growing gender gap: Quinnipiac poll

President Biden has opened up a 6 point lead in a hypothetical head-to-head match-up with former President Trump, new polling shows, amid signs of a growing gender gap in support for the two party front-runners.

A new Quinnipiac University national poll found Biden with 50 percent support among registered voters, ahead of Trump’s 44 percent.

That’s a shift in the incumbent’s favor from December, when Quinnipiac found the same Biden-Trump hypothetical “too close to call,” with Biden at 47 percent support and Trump at 46 percent.

Biden also scored majority support among independents in the latest findings, with 52 percent support to Trump’s 40 percent.

The abortion gap is only getting wider, which is why the issue needs to be totally abandoned by GOP candidates. It is a sure loser.

Good, don’t want the MAGA base to grt complacent and over confident. I don’t like Trump focusing on the positive polls too much for that reason.

They could be lies. The polling methodology needs to be disclosed.

50 percent support among registered voters, not likely voters. That alone makes the poll worthless for predicting elections.

Isn’t about time for Linda “Sandbagger “Graham to come out and say that he wants to pass a national law banning contraception?

Stories like this are good.
They make it harder for the rodents to get Crime Boss Joey off their ticket.
They use independents because indeies are fluid and hard to find.
They keep a list of leftist indies and use them to get the result they are looking for.

Trump is the only Republican who can get away with being pro-choice. He needs to frame it as a "states' right" issue. And go on the record supporting every state to legalize abortion.

"Plus President Trump’s numbers will do nothing but get better from here as he wipes the floor with the ho."

Thinking and responses like that which channel the Donald is why women will vote D. We and our candidate have earned the right to be angry over what Biden has done to our nation. But to right the wrongs, you first have to win the election.

A very large portion of American women want to ensure the option of aborting a pregnancy.

DeSantis by far and away the best candidate.

But we’re getting DACA-amnesty-supporter Donald T, whose brand has not won a general election since 2016.

This RDD telephone survey was conducted from January 25 – 29, 2024 throughout the contiguous United States.
Responses are reported for 1,852 adults 18 years and older with a margin of sampling error of +/- 2.3 percentage points. The survey includes 1,650 self-identified registered voters with a margin of sampling error of +/- 2.4 percentage points, 696 Republican or Republican leaning voters with a margin of sampling error of +/- 3.7 percentage points and 693 Democratic or Democratic leaning voters with a margin of sampling error of +/- 3.7 percentage points. Margins of sampling error for subgroups are available upon request.
Surveys are conducted with live interviewers calling landlines and cell phones.
Data collection support provided by Dynata. All data was managed and tabulated by the Quinnipiac University Poll.
PARTY IDENTIFICATION QUESTION WORDING - Generally speaking, do you consider yourself a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, or what?
ADULTS REGISTERED VOTERS
PARTY IDENTIFICATION
Republican 27% 29%
Democrat 30 32
Independent 30 29
Other/DK/NA 13 10
METHODOLOGICAL DETAILS
Dual frame landline and cell phone samples are generated using Random Digit Dialing procedures by Dynata. Both the landline and cellular phone samples are stratified by Census division according to area code. This survey includes 231 completes from the landline frame and 1,621 completes from the cellphone frame.
The survey requires respondent access to a phone and at least three call attempts are made to try to reach potential respondents. When calling landlines interviewers ask to speak with the adult member of the household having the next birthday. Interviews are conducted on cell phones with both cell only and dual owner respondents. The complete land and cell sample is weighted to National Health Interview Survey estimates for [land only/cell only/dual owner] households.
Questions are asked in English, as they appear in the release document. If a question is asked of a subset of the sample, a descriptive note is added in parentheses preceding the question. Questions are numbered as asked with additional questions found in successive releases.
This survey uses statistical weighting procedures to account for deviations in the survey sample from known population characteristics, which helps correct for differential survey participation and random variation in samples. The overall adult sample is weighted to recent Census data using a sample balancing procedure to match the demographic makeup of the population by region, gender, age, education and race. When including the design effect, the margin of sampling error for this study of adults is +/- 2.9 percentage points.
Polls are funded entirely by Quinnipiac University. The Quinnipiac University Poll is part of the Office of Marketing and Communications.
