Predictably, in her resignation statement, she played the victim, offered no apologies and blamed her downfall on those who exposed her misconduct.
In a key passage showing that her sense of entitlement remains intact, she wrote that “it has been distressing to have doubt cast on my commitments to confronting hate and to upholding scholarly rigor — two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am — and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.”
In another passage, she ignored the elephant in the room by insisting that her appointment let people from around the world see “in my presidency a vision of Harvard that affirmed their sense of belonging — their sense that Harvard welcomes people of talent and promise, from every background imaginable, to learn from and grow with one another.”
With such obnoxious self-flattery, she should get a job at the Obama Foundation.
After all, the former president reportedly lobbied the Harvard board to keep her as president.
Although Gay started only in July, she was not alone in inflated visions about what she represented.
From the start, she was held up as an example not only of her distinction but of Harvard’s commitment to diversity.
Less noticed until lately, her appointment came after what has been reported as the fastest search in the university’s history.
Unverified claims that white candidates were not seriously considered should be investigated.
Apart from her race and progressive politics, board members didn’t want to know too much about her, lest it spoil the shared sense of superiority that she and they were cut from the finest cloth.

The members of the secretive governing board threatened The Post and possibly others who dared question her background and qualifications.
What a raciss country...what a raciss world.
I read that Obama supported her staying there...and that they had a backroom conversation.
Because they thought they could ride out the backlash.
we are seeing so many inadequate, unprepared peoples rise well above their ability for....diversity...
she only stepped down to her professorship, not out the door.
I guarantee the decision to resign wasn’t hers.
Why did it take so long? Hint - A White male named Kevin would have been out of a job 2 weeks ago.
AND she will still receive the President’s salary. WTF?
It is a waste of time to ask a gang of liars why they lied.
All you get is a new pile of lies.
“Less noticed until lately, her appointment came after what has been reported as the fastest search in the university’s history.“
I can’t imagine that the president’s slot wasn’t absolutely coveted by a fair number of people. These people have got to be positively enraged at Gay’s elevation.
It blows my mind that Gay is making 900k a year. I’m sure her salary is subsidized by the student loans Biden is forgiving and passing the cost to taxpayers. Grrrrr
WITH FULL PAY OF THE PRESIDENT OF HARVARD....
How does plagiarism demonstrate a commitment to scholarly rigor?
Here's the problem with that.
As all old fahrts will attest, there's hardly any greater satisfaction than owning something that you really had to work for. Whether a home or a truck or a boat.
The really good feeling comes from knowing it's yours because you were clever and hard-working enough to make the money to pay for it.
Whether it was all those long nights at the office or enduring hard labor in the rain and snow or under someone's bathroom sink...you deserve it. And it feels good.
This woman will never know that feeling because she has lied, stolen, and scammed her way to wealth.
Her money isn't her own.
Harvard has been trending towards orthodoxy since FDR and the New Deal. The balance towards orthdoxy and against academic freedom and intellectual integrity has been shifting for decaes. Hopefully we have seen the culmination of the onslaught and things will begin to return to the proper role of learning in American affairs - though it is going to take decades to restore the balance - if we last that long.
She was 100% a diversity hire. They were likely terrified at the thought of firing her and possibly being perceived as *gasp* racist.
Harvard’s history also included a 20th century record of severely limiting the number of Jewish students they would admit. They never did want too many crowding out “their” people. As for Blacks, forget it. This was their norm until WWII or maybe after.
