Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination continues to slide in the latest Rasmussen poll, as he plunged to a tie for third place with former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The poll released Tuesday showed former President Donald Trump with a commanding lead of 51% of those who were asked which candidate they would vote for if the GOP presidential primary were held today.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, the U.N. ambassador in the Trump administration, was next with 13%, followed by DeSantis and Christie at 9% each, and Vivek Ramaswamy at 1%.

How long can he keep “plummeting” from wherever he was, which was never that high, down to Zero, which is as low as you can go?

His fall is asymptotic. It's like Zeno's Paradox.

Well, less than a month until actual voters in Iowa and New Hampshire weigh in.

Historically candidates start dropping out unless they do well in those two states.

Are any of these candidates running for Trump’s running mate or a spot in his administration? Based on where these polls have been, nobody has any chance against Trump.

This poll is trash. Chris Chritie doesn’t have 9% of likely GOP voters nation wide. He will get nothing in KY, TN, SC, SD etc etc. Where is his support coming from within the GOP? That means Desanctimonius also isn’t at 9% nationwide.

RDS will declare support for PDJT in time. That will place him at the top of the 2028 field by a mile.

FeSantis should have stayed in Florida fixing Florida’s state issues like ridiculous insurance rates.
He and Trump wasted a LOT of money fighting each other that could have been used to fight election fraud.

True. The handlers ruined DeSantis. They turned him into a stiff. Everything about him is totally cringeworthy.

It was evident right from the start to me this would be the ending. Trump has a huge following and DeSantis got a little publicity, for my money, showed what he thought of America when he ran against Trump who would be good for our country.

The only reason he ran was his own ambitions. That became glaringly apparent when he began to knock Trump and not think of the country first. Florida needs him. He just got voted in as their Governor. He was going to walk out on that and he hoped to split the vote for President in his direction. If I were a voter in Florida I would not be happy he was all set to toss that position aside.

Ambition.

I’d guess Trump’s VP might hold that spot.

Rob made himself odious to many of us.

So much can happen - even before November.

I like DeSantis as well, but his campaign will be one of the more spectacular flameouts in recent American history.

There is bad, and then there is DeSantis. He is setting a new standard for incompetent National campaigning.

DeSantis has done a good job with Florida, and that would have carried him well if he had waited until 2028. Since I haven't watched the debates, I can't comment on his impression there, but what you say sounds reasonable.

The big question will be how much damage he's done to his long term political career with this bad primary run.

I tend to think that he has had some very bad advisers, and while they can take some of the blame, ultimately, it is the candidate who has to know themselves well enough to either follow the advise, or not.

As you point out, scripted generally comes across as insincere, and that's a very difficult reputation to overcome. Except for Democrats, of course, because even theri own supporters expect them to lie to fool the people.

Wait until she bashes Trump or is asked about the Colorado decision. Then we will see her polling slip

No , it’s fine that he didn’t wait till 2028

He will take this as experience for 2028

Just needs to be less robotic. He destroyed greasy Gavin and was good in the last gop debate

Raheem Kassam who filled in for Steve Bannon on Tuesday, predicted DeSantis being in single digits by the end of the week at the latest.

He was in the 30s at one point in time. A fall of 21 points is the equivalent of falling off a political cliff. Once his decline began it began to pick up momentum. It will be a hard landing as far as Ron is concerned. It may even end his political career. He had better get back to being Governor to having any chance of saving his political career, because the longer he stays in, the worse it will look for him in future political endeavors.

Why are we doing this stupid infighting? Trump, DeSantis, and Ramaswamy would all be fine Presidents.

Ronald Reagan, with his 11th Commandment, knew how to win elections. Why are we saying bad things about other conservatives, giving the Democrats future ammunition against us? You never know what the future will bring.

“What I don’t get is DeSantis”...

is not as decent a person as you or many others.

He played decent at times, but evil/selfishness/greedy for power disguises itself as decent at times.

common sense is not common to mind’s focused on selfish pursuits such as Jill and Ron are.

so In that way of thinking a murderer or such is doing good for themself by getting in the news?

Ron wasn’t good to being with and repeatedly making or allowing himself to be pushed its choices that are repeatedly foolish at best, selfish at the core, or out right siding with the evil (establishment, etc, money men backing Ron) trying to over take our country.
