Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) took a shot at former President Donald Trump and criticized him for his lack of “leadership” during his Wednesday announcement that he is not seeking reelection in 2024.
Romney criticized Trump for calling “global warming a hoax” in a video statement he released. Romney also said, “neither President Biden nor former President Trump are leading their party to confront” the “critical challenges” facing the country like the “mounting national debt, climate change, and the ambitious authoritarians of Russia and China.”

That would be a bad idea. If Romney actually DID hypothetically "resign now", the RINO Governor of Utah would promptly appoint some party hack "consensus builder" who would pledge to "honor Romney's legacy". And THAT hack would then be able to run for re-election as a sitting Senator.
Heh. Romney would have stabbed Trump in the back. Clever with the "firing the day after the Utah Senate deadline" though. Romney wouldn't have been able to "resign" from Trump's cabinet in protest of the Jan. 6th events then.
I had forgotten about Tillerson, but you have a valid point that Romney couldn't have been AS BAD as him. It's really bizarre how so many Trump fanboys on here gave Trump a pass on the disastrous Tillerson and continued to cheer him on before, during, and AFTER he served in Trump's cabinet ("classy guy", "I'm gonna miss him", BLEH!) Yet those same FReepers continue to scream bloody murder over Fauci's appointment, which wasn't Trump's fault (he was grandfathered in and had been serving as National Director of Infectious Diseases since the freakin' Reagan era when Covid hit)
I don't blame Trump for "hiring" Fauci, but I SURE AS HELL blame him for hiring that creepy RINO scumbag TILLERSON!
Mitt may just be nervous about his and his family’s involvement with some of the stuff going on in Ukraine and a few other places, and doesn’t want the attention to that a hot campaign might initiate.
Maybe Mitt will try to sock him with his "binders of women."
President Trump knew Willard the Rat was dirty, corrupt and Derp State saboteur to the core. If he invited him to serve in a Cabinet capacity, it would’ve damaged his credibility with the base and signaled he was just another RINO.

Tillerson was a POS as well and incompetent to boot, the point is Romney never would have been in the Senate. Easily worth a year with Romney as SOS who would have been NO DIFFERENT than Tillerson.

I understand what you’re saying, but again, if President Trump had remotely seriously considered appointing Willard the Rat to any office of importance, it would’ve damaged HIS credibility and only enhanced the Rat’s.
