Is our honeymoon with the electric vehicle finally over? A study found that one in five early adopters of EV cars and trucks are returning to gas-powered vehicles. As a result, used EV prices are freefalling.
The Journal Nature published a study revealing that of the folks who were early adopters of EVs in California (between 2012 and 2018), 20% of PHEV drivers have returned to fully gas-powered vehicles and 18% of full EV drivers returned to gas-powered–with their subsequent vehicle purchase.

SCAM from the beginning
Plus logistics. Do you want to wait a half hour to charge your EV to 80%? Have it die in both heat or cold?
Mass idiocy knows no bounds.
I kept my hybrid for just over a year and traded it for an ICE truck.
moot point
pothole pete let the cat out of the bag
total elimination of private transportation is what they want
Why?
They took their brains outta neutral.
EV’s are good for short commutes. I used my riding EV golf cart for 15 years, and it was excellent for that purpose. Some golfers had gas powered carts. Those were noisy and the exhaust fumes were stinky.
Now I use battery powered lawn mower made by Ryobi. Those are quiet, start by pushing a button, are lighter so I can mow my lawn in Florida summers, are best of all I do not inhale stinky fumes from gas powered mowers.
But I would be scared to go more than 100 miles in a EV automobile.
“Buyer’s Remorse: Why Are 20% Of Early EV Adopters Now Defecting to Internal Combustion? “
Cause even would-be EV drivers can figure out it’s a stupid idea after a practical demonstration?
“used EV prices are freefalling.”
Probably because the buyers realize that a battery change-out is coming up soon to the tune of $10,000. Dump it before you have to make that investment. So much for all the vaunted gasoline savings you might have accumulated.
20% seems about right for early adopters who were purely in it for the money. They reacted as intended to the economic incentives of low taxes, rebates, and HOV lane access, but as those incentives changed and expired, they reacted to those new realities.
Government never has, and likely never will, understand that people don’t change their beliefs because of a tax break.

Gee that’s a tough one /s
Why? The reason is simple.......... they did not buy Teslas
Once fooled.
I bought a Ryobi snowblower. We’ve got a 75 foot x 20 foot driveway, flat, concrete. For snows greater than two or three inches, I’ve got a guy with bigger equipment to handle the removal. But for quick cleanup of less than three inches, that machine can’t be beat. No stinky fumes, no noise, no starting problems, no annual maintenance. Electric is great in certain applications.
If you have a family, an EV is good as a commuter vehicle. But it’s useless as your primary vehicle.
Only 20%?
Lots of stupid people out there...
A Tesla that was parked near the ocean and was being towed following Hurricane Idalia’s surge in the Tampa Bay region was destroyed by flames Thursday, the Pinellas Park Fire Department said.
