Researchers Use X-Ray on Item Found at Biblical Site, Make Incredible Discovery That Could Connect to 1 Specific Verse

On a site in modern-day Israel, academics believe they’ve found the oldest Hebrew text ever discovered, with an apparent link to a scene described in the Old Testament.

The text is described as a “curse tablet” — with an inscription one might expect to find in some of the darker passages of the Old Testament.

“You are cursed by the God YHW,” the text reads — using the sacred Hebrew name for God.

“You will die cursed—cursed you will surely die. Cursed you are by yhw-cursed,” the tablet reads, according to the Jewish News Syndicate.

Exsqueeze me but the accepted timeframe for Moses receiving the 10 Commandments is the 13th Century BC, and is that not also "proof" that he Israelites were literate, either that or "the God YHW" mistook them for being so.

Having some priests be literate does not mean that Israelites in general were literate.

I like his theory. Have some disagreements with it, but I would trust him more than myself.

1. Your post interjected the term "in general" into the discussion. It is neither implied nor inferred by the article.

2. Neither does a single tablet containing a curse mean that the Israelites "in general" were literate. Nor is it any any indication that the curse was not written by a priest, who might have been one of the few who were literate.
