AB InBev boss blames social media ‘misinformation’ for backlash against Bud Light

The chief executive of Anheuser-Busch InBev has blamed misinformation on social media for stoking a conservative consumer boycott of Bud Light after the best-selling US beer was promoted by a transgender influencer.

Bud Light has become the target of a fierce backlash since Dylan Mulvaney posted a video last month on Instagram, where she has 1.8mn followers, featuring a custom-made beer can provided by the brewery that was emblazoned with an image of her face.

The rightwing boycott has led sales volumes of the beer to drop by a quarter, while two Bud Light executives have taken leaves of absence.

What is the “misinformation?”

Are they contending they never paid to have a social media transvestite advertise Bud Light with a can with the thing’s likeness?

Talk about bizarre.

If you aren't firing those responsible, then you haven't admitted you made a mistake.

I'll bet the misinformation is what they've said before, that it was just one can and not a formal advertising campaign. But, you just know it was a trial balloon on social media to see how it was received. If it hadn't been boycotted, they would have brought out that formal advertisement waiting in the wings.

I’m misinformed just about every time I see a newscast involving Joe Biden.

The idea that Bud Light was in decline due to a lack of younger customers and inclusivity was pure idiocy. With growing competition from other major brands and craft beers, Bud Light became a less demanding beer that male customers aged into as they acquired demanding work schedules, spouses and kids, a touchy GI tract, and a dad bod.

Bud Light would have been far better off to maximize its large and coveted niche by pitching as the beer for adults, with fewer calories and less potential for stomach upset and a hangover. As the customer pushback shows, the last thing that an adult male wants is to find that their mellow, easier drinking beer is now the beer for trannies.

Instead, if Ms. Heinerschied and her team of woke fools wanted to be clever, they could have expanded Bud Light's brand claim by commercials humorously portraying it as the brand that happy, adult-minded couples drink together.

Let’s hope.

It’s time to single them out and burn the company down.

Turning them into a Harvard Business School case on the overnight destruction of a brand is the only way to stop the woke virus.

Misinformation? Bull chit. This is the arrogance of globalists. They don’t deserve to be in charge of anything. No one needs AB. When people lack all taste and drink AB products, they can easily change brands to some other conglomerate piss water. (Or they can develop some discernment.) AB is the perfect sacrifice. Kill it all as a message to all woke globalists.

There has been research suggesting that people under 40 want "purpose" with their paycheck.

Personally, I agree people want to do a good job, make a difference, and fulfill their manifest destiny. And FWIW, most Millenials and GenZers where I work leave (most of p) their politics at home (even if they telecommute). Maximizing shareholder value doesn't require burning a draft card, brassiere, flag, or Bidet kewpie doll.

But clearly some people have taken on the self-imposed title of Evangelist and Shape-Shifter. They don't want to JUST do a good job, they want to change society for "the better."

This is what happens when a job surrenders to passion and advocacy. Ruh Roh.

They were pushing the envelope all right. You can bet if they’d gotten away with it you’d have been seeing:

“Bud Light Transvestite Story Hour” at elementary schools and day care centers.
