Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Republicans were “trying to keep our schools from teaching black history.”
Partial transcript as follows:
MARGARET BRENNAN: I want to ask you on the issue set that Democrats are running on, your office told- told us you’re very focused on school board races in Illinois to make sure extreme right wing candidates aren’t dominating them. I’m wondering how strong the Republican ground operation is on things like school boards. Is parents’ rights really something you think Democrats need to be concerned about on a national scale?
PRITZKER: Well, what Republicans are trying to do is, of course, ban books in libraries, they’re trying to keep our schools from teaching black history. They make up things about CRT in schools that just don’t exist. And so they’ve got a lot of extreme right wing candidates, frankly, on the crazy end of things that are running and we just want to make sure that people know who they are and know not to vote for them.

The Gov must be off his meds.
They can teach black history, when they are prepared to teach liberal history, where 250 million people died and over a billion were enslaved.
There is no “black history”.
There is just history of all peoples, countries and races.
Segregating a portion of history as it pertains to only one race is ... well racism.
The tide is turning and the momentum shifting in the CRT debate. Conservatives better redouble their efforts and keep up the attacks.
Black history? Pritzker needs a course in fat history.
Why teach “black history” at all?
We are all Americans. Teach American history.
CRT is not black history.
Ever notice that Dr. King and Malcolm X are only talked about during Black History Month? In fact, Black History Month is just another endless rehashing of Dr. King. Real black contributors like Booker T. Washington or George Washington Carver are never discussed.
And Fredrick Douglas.
Oh, the 1619 lie? That history? Toss in Roots while you’re at it. Hey j.b......🖕
Greasy slob. Lying is a matter of course for his party now.
There. Fixed it.
In the majority of the country, districts operate under local control, meaning that school systems, or sometimes individual schools or teachers, have the ultimate authority in deciding what curriculum is taught.
Fifteen states conduct statewide materials adoptions, according to the American Association of Publishers. Even so, in some of these states, lists of approved materials only serve as recommendations. Districts can choose other materials off-list if they prefer. So who are they blaming for their determination of a lack of certain pieces being taught? So what makes the feds think they are in control of curriculum?
The fed efforts to control curriculum was being done by the threat of withdrawing federal funds as far back as the 50’s. And the school districts are finally realizing that the 7.9% of the funding coming from the feds for education, which sometimes doesn’t make it there anyway, is not worth being told what the local area wishes (is going) to teach.

Big difference between black history and anti-white rhetoric.
Exactly!
Didn’t know that transgender and gay indoctrination was part of African American history courses. I don’t think normal African American parents would appreciate that curriculum
