Find it first, then declare it
Getting stranger with every revelation...
It probably lined a lot of pockets. Betcha a lot of it ended up in private hands.
Think Kelly’s Heroes. Most of the gold was pocketed I’ll betcha. There’s no other reason to be secretive.
Never, ever talk to the FBI.
You’re not helping or being a good citizen. The FBI doesn’t need or care about you; that’s not their purpose anymore.
FBI exists solely to protect and enrich their masters, politically and financially. That’s it. You, as a citizen, are the target. Don’t give them reason to throw you into a cage or bankrupt you.
Never Ever.
Period.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
To keep the price of gold high?
Because they work for the FedGov and so are jerks by nature?
Because by the time it arrived at Fort Knox it was only 6.5, no.... 6.... no.... 5..... no... 4... 3... 2... 1... just under one ton of gold. For sure. Only a half ton.
“For the curious, here’s that video.”
That video should be mandatory viewing for all at six month intervals.
> Find it first, then declare it <
Better: Find it first, talk to a good lawyer, then declare it.
hoped for a finders fee.
I guess that would depend on what your definition of “is” is….
He had better have proof...and he better have it in triplicate/
*Larger* than the Pentagon!
What was he expecting from the FBI.. a handshake, or a percentage of the gold?
He seems a bit naive.
“Civil War-era gold...”
Bill Carson?
> Never, ever talk to the FBI. <
True that. Many folks don’t know it, but it’s a felony to lie to an FBI agent, or to any federal agent. You can lie to your local sheriff or to the cop on the beat, but not to the FBI.
So suppose you innocently say something incorrect to an FBI agent. Maybe you got a date wrong. Or maybe you mixed up some person with some other person. That could be taken as a lie. And then by golly, you’re jailhouse bound.
Politely take the Fifth instead. That’s what it’s there for.
OK, having not read the entire article (hey, rules are rules!), I have to ask, why would the FBI withhold information on what, if anything they discovered?
As I understand it, if the gold was property of the U.S. Government, the gold belongs to the government no matter who finds it. I can see no reason why the FBI can’t be completely forthcoming.
This “lost treasure” has hoax written all over it.
1)the army wouldn’t lost a shipment of gold this large and not make a huge amount of paperwork.
2) some sources say it was a gold bars shipment yet also say it was a payroll shipment. Who gets paid in gold bars? Not even Grant got that kind of payment.
3)nobody ever went back and dug up the treasure? Riiiiiight.
4) anyone who’s ever deal with the IRS knows the government never forgets, especially this reported amount of money.
Hoax, pure and simple.
No, the dates involved here.
My thought exactly...
