True that. Many folks don’t know it, but it’s a felony to lie to an FBI agent, or to any federal agent. You can lie to your local sheriff or to the cop on the beat, but not to the FBI.

So suppose you innocently say something incorrect to an FBI agent. Maybe you got a date wrong. Or maybe you mixed up some person with some other person. That could be taken as a lie. And then by golly, you’re jailhouse bound.

Politely take the Fifth instead. That’s what it’s there for.
