Philosophers seeking to answer questions around inequality in household labour and the invisibility of women's work in the home have proposed a new theory -- that men and women are trained by society to see different possibilities for action in the same domestic environment.
They say a view called "affordance theory" -- that we experience objects and situations as having actions implicitly attached -- underwrites the age-old gender disparity when it comes to the myriad mundane tasks of daily home maintenance.
For example, women may look at a surface and see an implied action -- 'to be wiped' -- whereas men may just observe a crumb-covered countertop.
The philosophers believe these deep-seated gender divides in domestic perception can be altered through societal interventions such as extended paternal leave, which will encourage men to build up mental associations for household tasks.

Girl friends I had as a younger man, my wife,(she has severe allergies to bee stings) female class mates I had in school, nurses in the ER when flies come in, my kid sisters, my sisters-in-law, women I work with, my nieces.
Those kind.
It’s not training..
It’s natural to the male and female mind.
The trick is to learn what the other thinks like and accommodate them as much as possible IOW, men can brush up their crumbs and toss them in the trash or at least the sink, when they make a mess.
Making a mess and expecting others to clean up after you is rude at best.
I find it frustrating to get an answer from my wife.
Do you want me to pick up something from Chic Fil-A while I’m out?
Answer: I think it’s going to rain tonight.
Me: It was a yes or no question.
That works because by cooperating and doing different jobs the whole thing is then cleaned.
It would help if people weren’t divorcing each other left and right for non-fault issues. Over 80% filed by women, so maybe that’s a problem spot there.

I let mr. mm hang pictures because he doesn’t like the way I would do it, so he can do it himself the first time around instead of “fixing” how I did it later.
Either way, he’s doing it. Might as well save myself the trouble.

Hunstman Spider, native of Austrailia. I hope never to see one in person. I’m curious, but not THAT curious.
Speaking of Austrailia, I am reminded of actress Nicole Kidman. Back in July of 2018, she was interviewed on the Today Show, asking about that time she captured a large Tarantula in a big glass jar after seeing it near a swimming pool he children were using. There are even Youtubes about it. So, she captures the spider, and knelt down beside her, humanely RELEASING the insect to crawl for another day!
I’ve watched some hoarders videos and it seems that the majority of them are women.
They do feature men on occasion, but mostly women.
Woman notices brakes don’t feel right.
Man says it’s her imagination.
I finally trained mr. mm to check them when I tell him that.
Whenever something I use all the time doesn’t feel right, I am always ultimately vindicated. So he’s learned to take it seriously.
Not all of us.
I despise “shopping”.
THAT is a legitimate reason to not try to kill some bugs.
If you miss and piss them off, it can be a matter of life and death. Yours, not the bug’s.
