Democrat challenger Gabe Vasquez defeated incumbent Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM) in New Mexico’s Second Congressional District.
The Associated Press called the race for Vasquez at 8:36 a.m. Mountain time on Thursday. Herrell conceded the race Wednesday evening on Facebook. She congratulated Vasquez for his victory but also slammed the district’s gerrymandering process.

Isn’t New Mexico an oil producing state?...................
Love NM. Abhor NM politics.
Ping.
Beautiful state that is ruled by abject morons.
Land of manana.
Because their day never comes.
Great place to visit...horrid place to live, especially if you have a family. Healthcare, crime, education...horrid.
#50 in healthcare...#50 in education...Second highest rate of violent crime of any state.
Live there at your own risk.
No energy, no civilization.
When Herrell won in 2020 because Democrats failed to commit sufficient vote fraud as Herrell won by over 7%, the Rats were outraged and threatened to exterminate her in 2022 just one day after she won:
Top NM Democrat says CD2 will be redrawn
Remember how Democrats care so much about minority representation in Congress, that they've even encoded it into law? Recall their hysteria just a few months ago when Ron DeSantis dared to eliminate a Negro-held district in northern Florida? The Rats sued everyone in sight because how DARE anyone target a minority member of Congress for elimination!
As the only Cherokee-American in the House, Herrell should have been of great concern to them and entitled to that same protection. But then it's not being a *minority* which actually matters to these hypocrites, it's about being a *Democrat* minority.
Only the East part I think from flying over it a lot.
It’s population is all in Sante Fe and Albuquerque, both of which are leftist crap holes. Filled with CA liberals.
The tribes are also angry welfare queens. You would think they would remember it wa me the Democrats who put them on the trail of tears, but they don’t teach that. Just to hate white people.
Breaking Bad was based in NM for a reason.
Yes and there was a shortfall in educational funds when Brandon signed the slew of executive orders day one.
Not to worry the Fed can print up money and toss it out the helicopter door.
Eastern NM up through about Ruidosa should go back to Texas as it was in the original Republic
Good chunk of the year there are more Texas plates there than NM and the people are mostly like West Texans
Yup! My dad got transferred to ABQ in ‘63. There weren’t a million people in the state and it was awesome. The awsomeness leaked out and attracted a lot of rodents. I left in ‘67 for the NAVY and lived there a couple times in the early 70’s. Sad.
. Yvette Herrell ,
you took A.P.s word
that you lost ?!!!
..and conceded ?
Never concede,
especially
when some
privately owned propaganda shill
claimed you lost.
They lie !!!!
Always wait till the votes are all counted.
When the Dem legislature split the oil patch district NM-2 and moved part of it into ABQ District 1 and the other part into Santa Fe District 3, hard-working oil patch voters were replaced by voters from crime-ridden ABQ's South Valley while heavily Pub Lea County voters were thrown into the same district as Santa Fe radicals and Navajo, Apache and Pueblo Indians.
Vasquez is a former aide to radical NM Senator Martin Heinrich who himself is a radical environmentalist. Vasquez said in Tweets since deleted that his goal is to eliminate the oil and gas industry, and he also supported/supports defund the police efforts. He’s as radical as one can be.
You are wrong in one statistic, NM is #51 in education when DC is included in the mix.
Also, the Soros backed AG candidate, Raul Torrez, won; Torrez was district attorney in ABQ and only prosecuted 50% of violent crimes.
#2 in the nation ... for now.
