The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. Although there is some moderate shear over the hurricane, this is not likely to affect Ian very much due to its large size. Some fluctuations in intensity are possible before the center reaches the coast later today, but Ian is expected to reach the coast as an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane.
Catastrophic storm surge inundation of 12 to 16 feet above ground level along with destructive waves are expected somewhere along the southwest Florida coastline from Englewood to Bonita Beach, including Charlotte Harbor.Residents in these areas should urgently follow any evacuation orders in effect.

I’ve been in a Cat 4 (María) inside a reinforced concrete home, with a reinforced concrete slab roof. It was scary. can’t imagine doing that in a Florida ranch house.

No not me but it’s not uncommon if it shifts....with all the terrific technology we have these days they still can’t predict exactly what these storms are gonna do.
The weather community does the best they can
I just hate it when they exaggerate to be dramatic.....it scares the hell out of people for no reason.
