Boat outing this afternoon--notable flotsam included coconuts and an orange bell pepper. Several boat lifts were collapsed with dangling motorboats.

A pair of dolphins greeted us. Osprey and dive-bombing pelicans were fun to watch. All in all, a much needed relaxing afternoon after a difficult week.

I’ve been a storm watcher for over 60 years. Time and again I’ve seen storm victims say the coastal living lifestyle is worth the risk. Everyone has to make that decision for themselves. Mrs. abb & I have had talks about owning a place at PC Beach, but just can’t pull the trigger.

The fact that the FL population increased by an order of magnitude from 1950 to 2020 tells me people weren’t too worried about hurricanes.

Thanks for asking. We get home tomorrow. We stayed up in Columbus, my home town and where Mr. RightField is buried ... my first visit since he passed. My next door neighbor came home Saturday and reports no damage to our townhouse complex. My backyard camera never stopped working, so I could see the fierce wind, and our power never went off. All in all, I was personally blessed to be out of danger.

“Pine Island road rebuild.”

Biden will take full credit. After all he was in Florida today. By the way you have a fine governor.

I admit I had to look up Arcadia, FL. Never heard of it. I assume the flooding came from the Peace River?

I've seen videos of *so much* flooding all over South Florida. Entire neighborhoods nearly completely underwater. Yes... very, very sad.

Yes, the Peace and Myakka Rivers are still above flood stage. Thankfully, they are receding with a week-long break from rain since Ian. The badly flooded and damaged Hwy 70 is an important east-west route across the FL peninsula.

Thank you for checking in. Definitely seeing progress today.

My dear, wonderful sanitation workers cleared five cans and bags of yard waste along with my trash pickup this morning. They didn't have to do that. But they didn't stop there...they stacked the empty yard waste cans, hauling all of them and the garbage bin right up the driveway to my garage door. They are fantastic! Can't wait to return the kindness.

Now the driveway is cleared, and we wait for the large yard waste pickup with the claw at the other end of the property.

A tree trimming company from Louisiana inspected my pecan and royal poinciana trees today. While leaning, they decided the poinciana did not pose a threat to fall into the road.

Had a dental appointment today. Southbound traffic on I-75 and secondary roads is a parking lot from pre-dawn until afternoon, with vehicles heading to ground zero and surrounding areas.

The flood waters in and around Arcadia are receding. They expect the Peace River to be below flood stage by Wednesday next week.

We're getting there.

Thanks for your report from a few days ago. Sounds like things are rapidly improving for you. That's great!

It's astonishing how fast things are moving in Florida. But then again, when you have Top Guv in charge, you KNOW you're in good hands! :-)

Somehow I just don’t see you excited over a thread about... Hillary.
