I was watching a video this morning of a Ukie soldier who was shot in the legs by an Aidar Battalion nazi for not wanting to fight anymore on the front lines. He survived and has some interesting things to say about his experience.

I came here to say that but when I read it...it actually sounds reasonable. They are talking about people “fleeing” not surrendering because they have to (surrounded).

Exactly!
I guess that can be a bit of a fine line, since in many cases the fleeing Russians have been massively outgunned and would’ve likely faced certain death had they continued hostilities.
There is a HUGE difference between a deserter and someone who surrenders. But, you ever served in anyone’s military, so that fact is beyond your ken.
