The good Samaritan who shot and killed the gunman who opened fire in the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana on Sunday afternoon reportedly broke the property's policy against weapons.
The suspected shooter entered the mall on Sunday carrying a rifle and multiple magazines and opened fire in the food court, killing at least three and injuring three before he was shot to death. Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison said the suspected shooter was killed by a "good Samaritan with a handgun."
The mall is owned by Simon Property Group, and the group's code of conduct, last updated in April of 2020, lists "No weapons" as number three.

You can bet they are scouring his life to criminalize him so this does not happen again.
A public business needs to either recognize the inalienable right to keep and bear arms or disconnect from public streets, disconnect from public utilities, have their own police, fire, and EMT response, and have any of their legal claims thrown out of our courts, including patent, copyright and trademark protections.
Someone blocks the driveway of the business? The cops don't come.
Storm takes down a power line? The store has no power.
Patron assaults the store manager? The cops and EMTs aren't coming. Your private security and medical team can deal with it.
Store on fire? Hope your sprinkler system stops it because the fire department isn't coming.
Someone selling products with your logo on them on a table on the sidewalk in front of your store? Don't file for infringement in a U.S. court because they don't recognize your rights.
Uvalde Police condemned this rule violation and said he should have waited outside the mall for 68 minutes before entering to intervene.
In Missouri, stores can put up “No guns allowed” signs. They don’t have to know you’re carrying one. If they DO find out you have a gun, they can ask you to leave. If you don’t leave, you’re guilty of Misdemeanor Trespassing. Who cares.
I live just south of the mall one town away, I’ve been in there, not an exaggeration, hundreds of times. In fact I was at the Regal movie theater which is on the other side of the parking lot with the wife but left at 5, shooting happened at 6.
We became a Constitutional Carry state on July 1, and I’m actually HOPING the 22 year old didn’t have a permit when he shot the guy and was carrying only because the laws were changed.
Piss even more people off it was an unlicensed and unregistered gun that took him out as well, both completely legal here now.
Hey Newsweak, STHU.
The “property rules” were stupid and wrong and furthermore unenforceable.
What they don’t say is that the CRIMINAL SHOOTER broke property rules against guns and state and federal laws against killing people.
Just imagine if the mass murderer had been black ... the armed citizen would be condemned as a white supremacist within minutes.
The sign that always amused me was one a property owner put up on his land. His neighbor was a rabidly anti gun, gun grabber. He put up a sign that said, “GUN FREE ZONE” with a big arrow pointing toward his neighbors house.
DOES THIS MEAN THE KILLER BROKE THE RULES?????
How crazy have we become?
The “good Samaritan” is an allusion to a parable Jesus told about a Samaritan that turned out to be a good person. Could be why its in quotes. Not all quotes are sarcastic air quotes.
Simon Property Group violated second amendment constitutional rights.
OMG can the media get any worse?? Did the mass shooter NOT break the property rules about bringing a firearm onto the property?? The media disgust me they are very sad that someone was there to save lives how disgusting can these reporters actually be??\I have UTTER DISTAIN for them!!!
He chose not to follow their suggestion. They can tell him to leave the property if they like. He broke no law. He would only have broken a law if they told him to leave the property and he then refused. That would be trespassing. As private businesses open to the public, your suggestions are not laws.
So did the shooter..............................
Good point, I do not know. Perhaps a lawyer person on Free Republic can clarify this point?
They’re making the case against the Good Samaritan and trying to change the narrative. Next we’ll hear from some libtard that wants to charge the good guy with a gun violation as most states that have CCW permits exclude government buildings, schools, casinos, and “private business that doesn’t allow” weapons. In other words, even though he had a valid CPL, he was in violation of the law.
Just another attempt by the left to make a good guy with a gun into the bad guy.
“While it is unclear if the Samaritan will face any repercussions for breaking property policy by carrying a gun, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers praised the person in a statement on Sunday night, saying: “Someone we are calling the ‘Good Samaritan’ was able to shoot the assailant and stop further bloodshed.”
The only “repercussions” ought to be the Samaritan being given Key to the city and a fat gift certificate from the mall. Shame on NewsWEAK for trying to find fault with the “Hero of Greenwood Park”.
They are almost signaling: select a grade school, not a mall!
