The anecdotal evidence of Democrat crossover voting in last month's State Senate District 27 Republican primary that resulted in a one-vote loss for incumbent State Sen. Tom Whatley (R-Auburn) to Auburn City Councilman Jay Hovey continues to accumulate.

In an op-ed published in Monday's edition of The New York Times, Auburn University creative writing professor Anton DiSclafani took credit for Whatley's single-vote loss.

"I'm a left-leaning Democrat, but on May 24, I voted on the Republican ballot in Alabama's primary election," DiSclafani wrote.

And they don’t want to change it because the Republican currently in office got elected under this system.

They think the open primary system helped them, so they don’t do anything to change it.

In ‘08 Rush urged GOP voters in PA. to turnout and vote for Hildabeast against Barky. Seeing her as an easier opponent.

I’ll bet if Jo Jo Brandon whispered in her ear it would set up one hell of an echo. No much going on between those two ears.

from the voter guide for the state of alabama.

According to Act #2017-340, Section 2(a), if an elector votes in a Primary Election, that elector may vote in a subsequent Primary Runoff Election only if they voted in the Primary Election of the same political party for which the Runoff Election is being held. Voters who did not vote in a Primary Election, may choose either party’s ballot in a Primary Runoff Election

Operation Chaos supported voting for Hillary over Obama, the premise being she was the lesser of two evils, not so much she would be easier to beat.

All GOP voters should demand closed GOP primaries. The open primaries are used to help RINOs retain control over the party, the same RINOs that are allowing the Democrats to destroy this country. Put the blame where it belongs, the Democrats are just taking advantage of the opportunity provided to them by the RINOs.

That’s not true. It was already inevitable Obama was going to be the nominee. Operation Chaos was birthed to make the primary campaign longer and make them both spend money against each other. OC prolonged the primary for several months when otherwise, Obama would have been able to coast and raise money instead of having to campaign and spend.

and what is the one and only purpose of open party primary nomination?

that would be to protect the uniparty.

An elector is different from a voter, at least to my knowledge. Was he an elector, or just a voter, do you know?

If I am even reading that correctly. 🙂

If he is just a voter, then he is also legal to vote in the primary runoff election if he did not vote in the primary election itself.

That makes it even worse.

Good find. Alabama needs to change that Again, if I am even reading that correctly. 🙂

It was a primary so he wasn’t an elector.
