Gas, Up and Away: Average Gallon Costs $4.87, an All-Time US Record
Newsmax ^ | 6-6-2022 | Jay Clemons

The pain at the pump continues for the vast majority of American drivers.

According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gas surged 59 cents over the last month, and Monday's average of $4.87 per gallon represents the most expensive average rate in United States history.

The one-week pricing spikes in Michigan (45 cents per gallon), Indiana (41 cents), and Wisconsin (39 cents) have been staggering.

The price hikes in Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, and Texas have also been steep, with each of the six states incurring a minimum increase of 30 cents per gallon over the last week.

Amid this unprecedented surge, all 50 states are now reporting average fuel prices exceeding $4 per gallon, with Oklahoma being the last state to eclipse the $4 mark, on average (end of May).

The state posting the lowest unleaded gas right now? According to GasBuddy.com ... it's Georgia at $4.28 per gallon.

According to Gas Buddy, which monitors fuel trends in various markets and countries, 10 different states — Indiana ($5.12 per gallon), Arizona ($5.14), Michigan ($5.15), Washington ($5.39), Oregon ($5.40), Hawaii ($5.42), Illinois ($5.43), Alaska ($5.44), Nevada ($5.48), and California ($6.33) — are currently reporting gas averages at $5 or higher.

In fact, a Chevron gas station in Los Angeles reportedly has unleaded fuel at $8.05 per gallon.

For that particular situation, however, corporate Chevron said: "This station, along with the majority of our branded stations in California, are owned by independent businesspeople who make their own decisions about the price to charge at their stations."

In a Monday blog post, AAA attributed the record-high fuel costs to a volatile market and high demand.

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, AAA revealed that gasoline stocks decreased 5.1 million barrels to 414.7 million barrels...

Brandon is making new records daily, for painful skyrocketing debilitating energy costs.

$5.25 outside Indy yesterday. Parking lots fairly empty and fewer people in poorly stocked stores.

So what would Trump have done differently. Haven’t heard much from him.

Good gosh....you’re holding so tightly on to your LONG TIME never Trumpism....even under this fake Poser clown??

Telling.

Glad the others have told you EXACTLY what President Trump (can you even bring yourself to saying President Trump?) would be doing, differently. Much differently.

Sheesh. Give it a rest.

He’s not alone.

I saw a Facebook post this morning from a chronically liberal moron who tied the tanking economy and skyrocketing inflation to Fed Chair Jerome Powell, who was, you see, appointed by PDJT.

Ergo, it’s all Trump’s fault.

I have no doubt this mental midget and others like him actually believe that.

I’m not pro Biden or anti Trump. I am pro truth. Biden is beholden to the green team. And it has hurt us. But the truth is former President Trump did not didn’t help our continued oil independence by not conducting a sale on Alaska’s Cook Inlet while in office. 5 refineries permanently closed the last year he was in office. (Did you hear any pushback from him in that?). And he continued the ban on drilling or established new bans off the east coast and Florida’s gulf waters. Oil rigs in use declined between 2018-2019. Approximately 9000 issued leases have been sat on by the oil companies after being issued by the Trump adm.

Explain how any of those actions help us today, had any of those facilities been producing.

Call for current heating oil prices. But not before having smelling salts dumped around the floor to wake you after pass out.

Came home today after being in Alaska for the past 10 days.

Gas in Anchorage ranged from $4.12/gal to $5.49/gal depending on where you bought it. Never saw a price variation like that before.

Here at home, gas was $5.15/gal before I left for Alaska. It's $5.89 this morning.

OUCH.

I have a relative up in northern snow world. They said current spot price for heating oil was about $6.80. So they are ordering a few pallets of “evil” coal.

Trump wasn’t always bad news. But look at your links. Many are prior to the actions he took or let happen in 2020. So again I ask, what was the cost in terms of continued oil independence did those actions cause. No worse than Keystone, whose oil is still finding its way to the gulf for loading on ships bound for China. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-01-07/canadian-exports-of-crude-from-the-u-s-hit-a-record-last-month

You are hopeless.

You’re completely overlooking the opposition (Congress) he had to deal with, during that time….which in spite of….he still managed to have one of the best economies, ever.

Go back to DU … and, take your FJB fail with you.

We’ll continue to appreciate PRESIDENT Trump’s MANY accomplishments, here.

First, for the first two years he had control of both houses of Congress. Second, the actions he took that I mentioned required no congressional action. They were done or allowed unilaterally by him.

Yep. Saw that too. Yesterday, driving around, it seems most the stations here in Sparks are around the 5.99 price now. It sucks!!!

'Daughter' borrowed my new truck; she's on her way back to WI from SD with a friend to return it. She just filled up and sent me this:

Let's Go, Brandon! Grrrr! @#$%^&*!

Incredible, isn’t it? I’m glad I live in a small town (in Idaho!) & don’t have to drive much. It’s $4.89 here now.

Well, I feel SO much better now, LOL!

I had a $50 fill up for my 11-gallon 2001 VW Golf a few weeks ago. That’s usually what I drive in the summer months. I’m only on the road one day a week; two at best.

Beau is going to have fits; he’s taking my truck to Canada fishing for a week come Friday. Getting there might be more expensive than the cost for the rest of the trip!

FWIW, heating is going to be a problem this season. We’re on propane & some electric.

Propane was $1.79/gallon in October 2020. Today it is at $2.99/gallon. We just had our last pre-paid top off. You can only fill propane tanks to 80% full for some reason. Anyhow, I’ve got to remind Beau to sign us up again, early if he can. That usually happens in July, but I sure don’t want to wait at these prices!

That price WAS in SD - I just asked her.

Here in Wisconsin, Kwik Trip is at $4.89 as of right now. I filled up last week Friday at $4.69.
