Harrowing video shows Texas cops RESTRAINING parents outside elementary school shooting and telling them 'we're taking care of it': Cops took up to 90 minutes to get inside classroom where gunman had trapped kids 'because they needed a key'

Shocking new video has emerged showing Texas cops restraining parents as they tried to rescue their kids on Tuesday after a gunman unleashed terror inside the elementary school, as questions grow over why it took so long to get to the shooter after the first 911 call.

Salvador Ramos, 18, arrived at the school in Uvalde at 11.30am, crashing his car into a ditch.

A school resource officer was at the scene but he failed to stop him from making his way inside.

Two other cops also rushed to the school at that time - Ramos had just shot his grandmother in the face at their home less than five miles away. She survived and called the police.

When they arrived, Ramos is said to have shot at them then ran into the school, where he barricaded himself in the fourth grade classroom and shot 19 kids and two teachers dead.

It took another 90 minutes from that point for police to declare the shooting over.

Now, sources say police were struggling to get into the classroom and needed a key to open the door.

Eventually, a border patrol agent was able to get inside and the shooting was declared over at 1.06pm.

But it questions remain over why it took police so long to get into the classroom where the kids were trapped with the gunman.

One child told KENS 5 that he was able to hide under a desk, but that a girl who yelled out 'help' when police arrived was executed.

What a vile human being he was. Sounds like, if those 2 children did not hide, he would have killed everyone in the classroom. He accomplished what he wanted to do within 5 minutes of entering that classroom.

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away. And apparently hours before they actually take action. Sigh.

Amazing how quickly people forget all of these incidents.
Amazing the amount of gullibility among supposedly smart people too.

Well maybe I’m being too kind there?

This is not the first time such a thing has happened. When Columbine happened in 1999, the SWAT team called to the school waited for three hours before going in.

Good catch

I just rewatched the 6+ minute cell phone video and there were quite a few LEOs with tactical gear, including two US Marshalls. At least two LEOs wearing tactical gear that included a helmet. And they all stood around waiting for a special team from Border Patrol.

US Marshall

US Marshall

Sheriff

Not sure what this one is TX State Trooper? End of video shows a few State Trooper SUVs

Local cop?

Not sure how effective that too small of a vest if on that last guy

"The parents wanted to go in because the cops wouldn’t go in."

But that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. Had the parents stormed the school en masse, and it all turned to shit, you can bet your sweet ass that the media would be attacking the cops for allowing those parents to put their lives, and everyone else's lives in the school in jeopardy. It's a no-win situation for the cops, no matter how the situation was handled.

And a month after the mayor did an interview with Tucker on the border situation in their town?

“DON MCLAUGHLIN JR: We’ve been dealing with this crisis for the last year. What’s coming on the 23rd of May won’t even be describable. You’re talking about thousands of people are going to hit that border that are just waiting to cross the border. And there’s nobody’s prepared down here for it, the federal government is not prepared for it. Thank God Governor Abbott is trying to get prepared for it, but it’s going to be just the wild, wild west and crazy down here. ”

After the shooter has gained entry and acquired potential targets he holds the "high ground." Outside forces are severely limited from that point on.

Could the death and injury numbers have been lower with more aggressive police action, possibly. But they very likely could have been much higher.

A few words about pre-identification. It is hard to impossible. What we see after the horror of the event - colors how everything about identified shooter is seen and makes his quirks and anomalies stand-out. Before the event these factors are just too generalized.

Liberals & Progressives almost never blame the murderer (unless his being White can be blamed) but now seem keenly focused on firearms. Conservatives hold the shooter responsible but also search for biological-sociological-psychological traits as though the event could have been prevented with profiling. Or the shooter's right to bear arms denied.

What stands out after the murderer is known -- just has almost no predictive validity. Israel employs profiling on its airline but appears to rely on armed teachers in its schools.

The AP wrote the article on the cops being negligent. Until a time line comes up I’m not going to judge them. Many of these cops had children, relatives in the school. I don’t trust the AP on this

Standing by while an untrained 18 year old systematically murdered children.

Shame.

The system worked - the cops were there in time to stop the horror. No more gun laws required. They needed better cops.

(To video of a man walking into the the school shortly after the shooting. Where we can hear people laughing)

Interesting... When they have to hide something. you know it's political.

They should be closed and locked regardless. That should be normal protocol - those needing in knock on the door to be let in (should be a small window in the door to be able to see out). That should be basic security protocol.

That is how many teachers operate at the school I sub at. In addition there is a small window in the door, but most teachers paper over it so someone can’t see in. I tend to keep the door unlocked just to avoid the hassle of the class having to be interrupted every time a kid comes back from the bathroom or water fountain.

One would think the sound of gunfire would have alerted everyone to lock the doors instantly.

During training for this scenario several years ago, the local sheriff’s office said their policy after Sandy Hook was to go in immediately—not wait for SWAT team backup.

Was the Whitmer kidnapping plot a conspiracy theory? Seems like an actual conspiracy to me. What’s your take on the Las Vegas shooting? Just your average FBI CI goes rogue with 2 dozen rifles and kills 50+?
