Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Kathy Barnette addressed several recent controversies over her record on Sunday, as she continues to surge in the polls ahead of Tuesday’s primary.
Speaking with host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday,” Barnette responded to criticisms about parts of her past that have come under fire in recent days, including questions about her military service record and insensitive tweets she had made in the past. She also blasted her primary opponents for raising controversy, claiming that they were “mad” because of her recent rise.
“So I want to give you a chance to answer some of these questions and your critics,” Bream began the interview. She pointed to criticisms leveled by former President Donald Trump, who said Thursday that Barnette “will never be able to win the General Election” and criticized her for having “many things in her past which have not been properly explained or vetted.” Barnette’s primary opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, echoed those criticisms.
Bream began with questions about Barnette’s military record. “You have now released a couple of forms related to your service. Your website, your bio says you served for 10 years. Critics say those forms do not prove that out. Your response?” Bream asked.
“That is not true. Those forms do prove just that,” Barnette responded. “I have never — I have not embellished on my record, on my time in the military. And I’m very grateful that I had the wonderful opportunity to serve our country.” According to her website, Barnette served in the Army Reserve and National Guard from 1990 to 2000. Included on her website are photographs of her DD214 certificate of discharge from active duty, a record of service form, and her discharge documents from both the Army reserve and National Guard.
“Where were you an adjunct college professor?” Bream asked next.
Barnette answered, pointing to a module on her website which linked to a page that answers a number of outstanding questions. According to that page, titled, “Things You Want To Know,” Barnette was an adjunct professor at Judson University, a small Christian college in Elgin, Illinois.
“OK. When did you move to Pennsylvania?” Bream continued.
“[We’ve] lived here for nine years, going into our 10th year,” Barnette replied. “I’ve raised two of my babies here.”
Bream then questioned her about several insensitive tweets. Bream quoted: “you said ‘if you love freedom, Islam must not be allowed to thrive under any condition. You’ve got tweets about former President Obama, one of them in 2016 says ‘Obama is a Muslim doing Muslim-like things.’ He has said that he is not, he is a practicing christian. So any context then for those particular tweets?”
The context, Barnette explained, was that she made the tweets in the midst of several high-profile news events involving people from Muslim backgrounds. “we had the Obama administration bringing in a lot of Syrian refugees at that time …We were looking at the Pulse nightclub shooting. We were watching people take vehicles, weaponize them, and run people down in the street. We were looking at the San Bernadino shooting. We were looking at some very unnerving things that as Americans we thought would never happen here.” She also claimed that many of her tweets were not fully thought out. “The overwhelming majority of the tweets that are now being presented are not even full thoughts. They’re not even full sentences. And yet, people take it and they begin to build their own narrative around it. So I can’t provide a lot of context because, again, it’s almost 10 years ago. That’s how far they have to go back to try to find anything on me.”
Barnette closed the interview by blasting Oz and fellow challenger David McCormick, while touting her own accomplishment. “We had seven debates and Mehmet Oz and David McCormick only showed up to two,” she said. “We had a number of forums and I can only recall them showing up to two. And then while they were attacking one another on television, I was out here with the people. We spent less than $2 million and they’re mad. They’re mad because I didn’t ask for permission to be in this space. I just walked in because this is my country. And our country is in trouble. And I don’t believe we have anymore room to elect warm bodies with an R next to their name and say hey, check, Republicans win. We don’t win. It’s not working out for us.”
Good grief! Are you demanding to know every aspect about her male competetors’ extended families?
At least we can assume that where her family is probably isn’t Turkey.
I don’t care, but the Dems will and if there is any way they can twist anything slightly negative they will be on it. The G W Bush Air Guard uproar would have been trivial and totally irrelevant yet at the huge uproar the Dems generated over it. Just not an embarrassing relative will become a ‘coverup’, and the screaming will only get louder along with ‘What else are you hiding, Cathey?’ It’s what the Dems are made of.
I also like James Earl Jones for Lt. Governor. He comes to our Tea Party Meetings in Allentown & they endorsed him.
I am actually not a Kathy hater. I don’t have favorite candidate. PA is clown show right now
What I want to know is why a candidate that so many people are pushing here refuses to discuss her husband. Heck, even someone who claims to know her refuses to say. And in the insanity of your push for a candidate you haven’t properly vetted her if you dont even know anything about the husband.
The SPOUSE is always relevant. See Mccormick’s spouse for an example of why that is the case.
She has to win the race to be a Senator. Her spouse could derail it. See what happened to the former front runner

,Kathy Barnette’s Twitter account and I found that tweet. She wasn’t praising or supporting blm or defund the police, she was putting # for them in reference to her video link in that tweet, where she is speaking out against them
I posted yesterday a link that was substantiated by footnote after footnote. The material you refer to is apparently impossible based on historical evidence. It was added 200 years later by one man based on no evidence & was contested at the time.

Excerpt
Still, evidence is lacking on Aisha’s actual year of birth. What is however known is that “Aisha was involved in the Battles of Badr in 624 and Uhud in 625, in neither of which was anyone under the age of 15 allowed”—which were close to the year she supposedly got married. Furthermore “her elder sister of 10 years, died at the age of 100, 72 years after Aisha’s wedding [making Aisha’s] age at the time of her marriage at least 14, and at the time of her marriage’s consummation almost 20”. Furthermore, the age of Aisha is only based on one account, allegedly attributed to Aisha herself in Sahih Bukhari (Volume 5; Book 58; Number 234). However it’s account is heavily disputed within Bukhari’s literature.
I’ve decided that I’m not voting for Oz. So it comes down to Barnette or McCormick. I still am worried that the Dems are going to find a lot of dirt on Barnette and she’ll lose in the general election. I think I’m leaning toward McCormick at this point.
Yep.... Ding Ding Ding.. we have a winner...
The swamp that is the GOPe/Uniparty has once more shown its true colors...
They have ZERO intent of ever supporting anyone who is remotely conservative...
Can you imagine what this world would look like if the Republican establishment fought 1/2 as hard against republicans as they do against their conservative base?
Sorry should read half as hard against democrats as they do their conservative base
A DD214 is all that I need to know she served.
Mr. Jay, The Establishment Republicans and the GOPe do not consider Conservatives their base. In fact, they hate Conservatives much more than Democrats hate them. That rather see an Extremely Liberal Democrat holding an elected Office that a Conservative Republican. For some unknown reason, Conservatives cannot or won’t grasp this fact.
Agreed that if I was her I would characterize service as 7 years in the National Guard and 3 years in the reserves. Nothing dishonorable there. And avoids a ton of questions.
Having said that, it would be nice if somebody would ask those pointed questions from Jersey Öz. Because he’ll have a lot harder time answering them than she would.
How many people in Pennsylvania would understand a boy born and bred in Cleveland going to serve in a foreign military?
Yes with out doubt.
Quite the globalist you’re backing there, Blowhard!

None of this can be proven definitively.
How old were the many, many concubines of Mohammed?
