Biden blames COVID AND Putin for soaring gas prices, admits it's 'hard to tell' when they will go down and says Americans will save $80 a month if they buy an electric car as he unveils plan to reduce pain at the pumps

President Joe Biden said Thursday that record gas prices were caused by the pandemic and Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine as he unveiled a two-pronged plan to increase supply and reduce demand.

He announced he would release a million barrels of oil per day from the nation's strategic reserve for the next six months and accelerate the switch to electric vehicle.

But his analysis of the cause of the crisis will attract criticism for opponents who accuse him of shifting the blame for his administration's economic woes.

'The problem we're facing with gas prices has two roots,' Biden told reporters at the White House.

'First, the pandemic. When COVID struck demand for oil plummeted so production slowed down worldwide.

'Because of the strength and the speed of recovery demand for oil shot back up much faster than the supply. That's why the cost of gas began to rise last year.

'The second root is Vladimir Putin.'

At the start of the year the price of a gallon was about about $3.30, he continued, while today it is averaging about $4.22.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32qupNwZK-4 now the press briefing to clean up Biden's remarks. Starting off with PUTINS PRICE HIKE, so the media can repeat over and over to hypnotize us.

568 million barrels in our reserve and we will release on million/day for 6 months which should drive prices down perhaps 10cent

Save $80? I bought 30 buffalo wings for a small gathering and it was nearly $40.

Nearly $50 I meant. We're at the point where $40 would be a bargain.

So pathetic that Brandon gives a presser, then his press director has to do a follow-up to make what he mumbled clear and because Brandon can’t answer questions then they do it for him. LIVE NOW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32qupNwZK-4

$80.00 a month, that’s $20.00/week for going to an electric car(never mind the $70,000 investment). That’s rich coming from one of the wealthiest out-of-touch politicians we’ve ever seen.

The release of oil - they say they have NO CLUE how or when it will effect pump prices.

It’s Brandon policies that did it purposely.

Trudeau now is threatening shortages of energy and food for Canada.

Even if Biden gave me the down payment, I couldn’t afford an electric car.

And it wouldn’t work for my lifestyle, either.

These people live in unicorn land, and are completely out of touch with the vast majority of Americans.

I do not spend 80 a month in gas and car is paid for. So buying an electric car would cost money.

I’m thinking of getting a plug-in hybrid. I will only do it if I can convince my employer to prove how “green” they are by letting me charge it at work.

“Trying to figure out how do I save $80 a month by buying an electric car. I do not have any car payments now.

Tesla Model 3 starts out at $46K. If I put 10K down and finance the car loan of 36K at 2.29% for 60 months, my car payments would be $635.57. Not much of a savings.”

May I add, let’s not forget the cost of Excise Tax (in the
states that have Excise Tax) which is based on the value of the vehicle in the state I used to live in. (one of the MANY MANY MANY reasons Mr. Roberts and I moved out of Massachusetts last summer)

The price of electricity is getting pretty high too. Unless I missed the Tesla model that works on unicorn dust.

SAVE $80 FOR A STUPID ELECTRIC CAR???? BULL S***!!! Cost of electricity has shot up like gas prices!!!! Our electric bill has gone up by 40%. Tag on having to pay to put in a power up car plug in the garage will cost $250 or more to get it put in. I assume a 110 current will not work and it will have to be 220 won’t it??? They brag on TV that this model will get 300 miles!!! Bull, 300 miles and at the last 75 miles you are going 45 mph because the power is getting low. Will C or AA or AAA batteries go in as back up????? LOL I have 5 years left on paying for my SUV. Unless those idiots are going to pay my car off, they can kiss it. And we will keep driving it after we pay it off. We are trying to make this our last or at least next to last car. We are into our 70s and I hope to get every mile and year out of my Ford Eclipse. With the idiots we have running, or I should say, runnin’ it into the ground idiots, we all may be on horse or buckboard wagons before Trump can run them all off in 2024. Damned fools is what they are and I apologize to all the fools.

Yes. It saves a great deal of money. As with everything, it’s all about location and your specific use case.
