Putin's invasion grinds to a halt: Kyiv claims to have destroyed dozens of Russian helicopters overnight, retaken a city, and killed 11,000 troops while Russians have captured no significant territory sparking hopes Ukraine could win the war

Russia's invasion of Ukraine appears to have ground to a halt with no significant territory captured despite a weekend of heavy fighting, with Kyiv's men claiming to have taken out dozens of helicopters and recaptured a city this morning - sparking hopes that the unlikeliest of victories may be on the cards.

Putin's men renewed their bombardments on Mariupol, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv this morning as his forces also tried to surround Kyiv in preparation for an assault, but have not significantly advanced their frontline since the city of Kherson and nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia were captured last week.

Meanwhile the Ukrainian armed forces claimed to have destroyed up to 30 Russian helicopters that had been moved to Chornobaivka airport, near Kherson, overnight and to have retaken the city of Chuhuiv, near Kharkiv, killing two Russian commanders - Lt. Col. Dmitry Safronov, and Lt Col. Denis Glebov - in the process.

Russia also tacitly acknowledged the loss of two other commanders - Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Glebov - whose funerals were held in Russia at the weekend.

Video also emerged which appeared to show Ukrainian defence forces based in Odessa, the country's largest port, exchanging fire with ships overnight - one of which suffers a hit. Ukraine's ministry of defence has since claimed the vessel was destroyed.

-snip-

US intelligence believes Russia has committed 95 per cent of the invasion force it had assembled on Ukraine's border to the fight, meaning significant reinforcements to push its attacks forward are unlikely to come soon - and could simply run into many of the same logistical problems that plagued the early assault.

They were right on Putin invading Ukraine after Putin had massed over 100,000 troops on Ukraine's border for everyone to see? That is supposed to be an impressive call? Don't make me laugh. Did you actually see those 100k+ Russian troops? Or did you just take CIA's word for it?

Just trying to see how consistent you are.

Putin doesn’t have enough military to do traditional Russian strategy.

______

Exactly. Russia has shrunk. They reduced the draft to one year. Russia military is a lot smaller than the Soviet one used to be.
Yet, they have not changed their strategies.
They fighting this way for the last hundred of years.

Ukrainians can at best bleed Putin until he just takes the black sea coast and Donbas. No way can they do any better

Ukrainians can kill Russians till they leave Ukraine.

So it is over? Have they decided who will take Putin’s place?

Now that he is an international war criminal and a global pariah, does anyone really think Putin is going to wave a white flag, and surrender his country to Ukraine?

Plenty of times they were wrong I agree, however, that they got Russia right tells me someone or some assets in the Russian theater actually know how to tie their shoes.

So if they’re right once with Russia, they may also be correct on Russian deployments.

True it is about war deployments being a huge clue stick, but an actual shooting war aslo is a pretty obvious place for multiple reconnaissance intel points. I’d say something like vehicle destruction and army mobilization numbers are at least something we can measure relatively accurately.

This doesn’t look like “grinding to a halt.”

Why is it an outrageous lie?

If you can't see it, you must be drinking something really strong.
How can Ukraine “retake” the city which The Daily Mail previously claimed they never lost in the first place?

The Ukrainians are bumping off generals and commanders left and right.

Now you are becoming a full time comedian.
Chuckle.

You get it. Many do not. They are thinking of the Red Army and 100 divisions at the Fulda Gap. Putin’s army is a small fraction of that. If the 199K number is correct then there are maybe 70K left in the entire ground force.

17,000 NLAWS have arrived in the Ukraine over the past week.

That is a game changer. Tanks are now like battleships. Targeted dinosaurs.

The number of MANPADS arriving is also staggering.

All of this really changes the force projections.

The Daily Mail has been a very useful source many times, covering stories the US media has suppressed. Its a regular alternate foreign source, for those who like using foreign media as a check on the US propaganda machine. Heck, sometimes even the UK Guardian does this.

I love your optimism. I really do. We haven’t heard the “truth” about anything in years and sadly, we probably won’t until the return Jesus.

Is it just me or have I seen this same/similar headline several times in the last week? Only thing missing was the 56 tanks destroyed and the Russian general who was killed.

The worse it is for Russia in Ukraine, the less likely a CCP invasion of Taiwan becomes.
