Putin's invasion grinds to a halt: Kyiv claims to have destroyed dozens of Russian helicopters overnight, retaken a city, and killed 11,000 troops while Russians have captured no significant territory sparking hopes Ukraine could win the war

Russia's invasion of Ukraine appears to have ground to a halt with no significant territory captured despite a weekend of heavy fighting, with Kyiv's men claiming to have taken out dozens of helicopters and recaptured a city this morning - sparking hopes that the unlikeliest of victories may be on the cards.

Putin's men renewed their bombardments on Mariupol, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv this morning as his forces also tried to surround Kyiv in preparation for an assault, but have not significantly advanced their frontline since the city of Kherson and nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia were captured last week.

Meanwhile the Ukrainian armed forces claimed to have destroyed up to 30 Russian helicopters that had been moved to Chornobaivka airport, near Kherson, overnight and to have retaken the city of Chuhuiv, near Kharkiv, killing two Russian commanders - Lt. Col. Dmitry Safronov, and Lt Col. Denis Glebov - in the process.

Russia also tacitly acknowledged the loss of two other commanders - Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Glebov - whose funerals were held in Russia at the weekend.

Video also emerged which appeared to show Ukrainian defence forces based in Odessa, the country's largest port, exchanging fire with ships overnight - one of which suffers a hit. Ukraine's ministry of defence has since claimed the vessel was destroyed.

US intelligence believes Russia has committed 95 per cent of the invasion force it had assembled on Ukraine's border to the fight, meaning significant reinforcements to push its attacks forward are unlikely to come soon - and could simply run into many of the same logistical problems that plagued the early assault.

Putin doesn’t have enough military to do traditional Russian strategy.

Someone’s lying, the Daily Mail or Putin, as Putin says his forces are pretty much positioned and ready to start taking on the cities and that Ukraine’s military has been mostly neutralized.

Ukrainians are fighting bravely, but they are seriously outgunned. If the west gave them planes, they could seriously maul the column north of Kyiv. Armed drones would also be helpful.

We won’t be getting the real truth for at least six months.

If Putin is losing... He’ll make sure everybody else does too. Hopefully somebody within Russia is working on his overthrow. That’s the only way this ends... With him on a slab.

“US Intelligence” is hardly ever right on anything.

Imagine Chinese mercenaries being brought into the fight to test out Chinese weapons systems against European weapons.

Putin won’t stand for being humiliated like this. He’ll mash The Button.

Well they were right that Putin was going to invade, even though that appears to be a dumb move on Putin’s part.

I think they are under estimating the Russian deaths. The Ukes must have killed millions, perhaps billions of Russian soldiers! </sarc>

I don’t believe word 1 of anything the MSM says any more! It could be 120°C at high noon, I could see my shadow, and was frying an egg on the sidewalk. If the MSM told me the sun was out, I would STILL check up in the sky!

Thousands and thousands of anti-aircraft and anti-armor weapons have been pouring in. The Russian troops are nothing more than big, fat, unhidden targets. Dead men walking. Stories are they are terrified on staying in their vehicles, aka coffins.

If this is true…and who knows. But if it is, the weapons they are getting must be really easy to use. With the number of “militia” there, our stuff must be pretty much fire and forget…for dummies (and by that I mean untrained folks.)

That said, there are going to be a lot of weapons left over when this is done. I wonder where they will end up?

Read several articles saying they are already doing this with cooperation from the Taliban, no need to test them there when they can do it in their own facilities.

Why is it an outrageous lie? Cheering for Puty Put? The Ukrainians are bumping off generals and commanders left and right. The Russkies are even being forced to acknowledge it, and in response are now inventing atrocity stories about the Ukrainians working on super bioweapons and nukes! And Russian forces are still pretty much where they've been for days now, except in the South where they've made some gains.

Ukrainians should overthrow their illegitimate government. The problem would be over.

As for the rest of your comment. I can tell you haven’t spent time in that part of the world.

If Ukraine does “win” the war, it will be seen as a stupid, needless, pointless “adventure,” and the Garks and the Generals will cashier Putin.

If so, good.
