In an ideal world, maybe we could ignore what's happening in Ukraine but we have to see the world as it is, not how we want it to be: Russia is calling and wants its Ukraine back.
I generally appreciate Tucker Carlson, but every time he discusses Ukraine and Russia, I bristle — especially when he contends that America has no interest in Ukraine. I know some of you might agree with Carlson, but you can be a solid conservative who is just as war-weary as the next guy and still see a security interest in Ukraine without being a neocon.
Putin claims to be protecting Russians left in Ukraine after the USSR collapsed, and that Ukraine is rightfully Russian and always has been, even though, historically, there was a Kiev before there was a Moscow. (By the way, it isn't pronounced keev as in keen, but kuh-YEEV in Ukrainian and KEY-yev in Russian.)
Vlad has been a serial breaker of international norms starting as early as 2008, when he invaded Georgia. He annexed Crimea in 2014 and made his first incursion into the Donbas region. Not only has he flagrantly violated Article 2(4) of the U.N. charter by his "use of force against the territorial integrity" of Ukraine, but he has repeatedly violated the promises Russia, the U.S., and the U.K. made in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum: security to Ukraine for giving up its nukes, with assurances that the U.S. would respond if Russia were to renege. All three nations agreed "to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine" and "to refrain from the threat or use of force" against Ukraine.

DEMOCRATS RUIN EVERYTHING they touch!
Not on me Madam. Not on me. I don’t give a rip for the Russians and Ukrainians.
I want our troops on our southern border stopping the invasion from Mexico and Central America.
Biden is sending border patrol to Europe!
But, but Joe Obiden, Nasty Nancy, Mitt Romney and Kerry the clown all have kids who work (snort) for the gas companies there. They could lose their graft, er I mean jobs..
Makes me feel warm all over. Meanwhile on our southern border it’s “Come on in one and all!’’.
You keep posting that map, but I never looked at it from the Russian viewpoint regarding Ukraine. That is a HUGE border with Russia and given Russia’s history of being invaded every 50 years or so (although not since the Cold War), I can see why Russia doesn’t want our front lines there.
When has the Left and the present regime EVER acted in the genuine interest of the United States? So NOW we’re supposed to rollover and believe going to war with Russia over Ukraine serves the interests of the United States? . . .child pleeze.
What do you mean, “Not on me”? I blamed Biden and RATs for the uprising in Europe; not you.
I’m in 100% agreement with your philosophy. Not our job to be involved “over there”. I don’t care about them, either. (I’m pissed that Biden stoked the fire to have Putin engage.) And build the wall on the southern border — the whole wall.
Sally dear....... Hunter Biden took the Ukranian money and is now welching on his promise. The Big Guy that was cut-in to the cash flow lacks the political, intellectual, and military power to reverse what already is a Russian fiat accompli
We got the money. There is no longer American National Security at risk.
We you say? Of course. In his heart, Biden took the money in the interest of the USA
“Don’t you just love it when elites tell you you’ve been doing it wrong? After decades of pronouncing and spelling the city as “Kiev”, suddenly we’re told the name is “Kyiv”, and it has always been “Kyiv”, and you’re an ignoramus if you think otherwise.”
Reminds me of Bill Clinton ‘educating’ us on the pronunciation of Kosovo, when he called it Kasava, like a drink or something.
And then you have John Kerry calling the great leader from the past Jenghis Khan.
“Didn’t you get the memo about Daesh rather than ISIS?”
Good point, forgot about Da-Esh, instead of ISIS.
I have made a life time study of history, albeit as a mere layman but the histories of these two peoples is a long and bloody one and there is no ''good guy'' here. In WW2 the Ukrainians were some of Hitlers most vicious killers. Let them kill each other. All Europe has ever been good for is piling up bodies. And get set for thousands of more ''new'' citizens as Ukrainians ''refugees'' pour in here.
We are surrounded by pretensions azzholes, who manipulate words because they are unchallenged and because they can. It’s really annoying.
“sorry for the confusion.”
Gotcha; I was confused.
I agree. I’ve become isolationist over the last 30 years or so. As a younger person I thought it was noble of us to “help” everyone around the world — even Vietnam — even if it meant the sacrifice of our boys’ lives. Now I agree with Patton when he said, let the other bastard die for HIS country. (I know that’s not 100% in context, but it’s the point.)
I think the best we can and should do to help other countries is to send missionaries. If their hearts are changed, more things will fall into place in a good way. (Not that missionaries don’t sacrifice their lives, because they do.)
“All Europe has ever been good for is piling up bodies.”
And taking the USA’s money and lives.
I agree with your #5.
Well said
The best action the USA can take at this point: produce our own energy, and go to a net energy exporter.
The only interest the U.S. has in Ukraine is that it is a great money source for the Biden crime family.
But she tells use how to pronounce kuh-YEEV.
That “leftist party line” you describe is what propelled Donald Trump to the head of the GOP field in 2016, and made the Bush family less popular than a bunch of child molesters among American voters.
