The high-capacity ammunition magazine a crazed gunman used to kill a rookie NYPD cop and injure another in Harlem turns the weapon into something that might be found in war-torn Afghanistan, experts said on Saturday.
The so-called “drum” magazine allows the Glock to hold an additional 40 rounds to the firearm’s usual 10.
New York prohibits the use of magazines holding more than 10 rounds unless you are active law enforcement or military, according to state law and an online site that hawks the magazines for $89.95.

I would throw the book at the guy for the shooting and killing. As his lawyer I would defend his ownership of the high capacity magazine (ugly and stupid looking as it is).

Obviously 10 round magazines are to big. They should make them 5 round or better yet 1 round. Because you only need 1 round to kill your attacker.
Unless he fired more than ten rounds the size of the magazine is irrelevant. The real problem is high capacity criminals who commit crime after crime and are still on the street.
I hope every criminal gets a 40 round magazine. Those things jam so much thats probably what gave an opening for the cop to shoot him.
