In the last couple years it has become mandatory at my old workplace. My problem with the COVID shots is they don't have enough of a history that I feel comfortable taking them. My wife developed Raynaud’s syndrome after getting the shots, and developed respiratory problem from possible emboli, my mother developed severe arthritis in her right hand (shot was in the left arm) that slowly improved but has never gone back to normal. My daughter, my wife and I all got sick a couple weeks ago, I'm fairly sure it was Omicron. I just had some sniffles and a dry cough for a few days, my wife finally feeling better after almost 2 weeks and my daughter still is having some problems. The were both double jabbed. I'm basically blessed, I retired in July before all this stuff hit the fan. I wanted to go back a couple days a week to help, but at this point that probably won't happen.

Naturally, no one is perfect. And of course, Trump is braggadocios...but we knew that going in. He was a known commodity.

However, even with:

• the fed gov spying on him as a private citizen in the U.S. and continuing to spy on him as president
• the 4+ year Rusia, Rusia, Rusia hysteria
• those in his own party (Ryan, McConnel) blocking him at many turns
• Not one, but two (sham) impeachments
• social media restricting him, then shutting him down
• the 4+ year active coup against him

and on and on...he still managed to do more good for this country than perhaps 90% of the other presidents-who didn't have to run the unprecedented gauntlet that Trump did.

Imagine what he could have gotten done, and how much better our country would be for it, had he only had to deal with the "typical" pressures against a president!

Thankfully, the race didn't wind up Bush III vs Clinton II.

FWIW, the expansion of Medicare and Medicaid significantly reduced the profitability and sustainability in healthcare. I know very few people that consider them a positive influence compared to most who consider them a huge imposition and barrier. They sabotaged the private health insurance industry which has led directly to the cost shifting to patients.

I've made career decisions based on my desire to minimize the role of feckless, corrupt idiots in my life -- both inside and outside government.

I sit here now facing the likely prospect that I would be subject to a stupid vaccine mandate as a Federal contractor. Fortunately, I'm in a position where I can walk away from the work rather than reduce myself to that kind of pathetic humiliation.

Those HCWs that refuse the vaccine and want to work in the healthcare field could still opt for self pay clinics and practices. Although they won’t be able to work at hospitals and most clinics, I do think there will be some demand for their services. Especially if people want some of the medical treatments not offered in the government funded facilities and if they want medical records privacy.,

I had to deal with a medical emergency because a family member took the clot shots and was hospitalized for most the Summer because of that decision. They came close to death more than once during that time. It was in a Medicare funded facility that they were given the wrong meds and developed further complications. They also lost and misplaced multiple test results that I had to track down because of incompetence on their part. I had several meetings with the staff and administration and came away in shock. The level of lies, negligence and deception were disgusting. I can only imagine how much worse the staffing at most facilities will be after anyone with ethics or morality has long left the building because of this corrupt ruling.
