Automaker Chrysler just announced plans to go completely electric by 2028, anticipating the release of its first electric vehicle by 2025.
Chrysler announced the plans along with a new AI-enabled vehicle system powered by a battery that the company says can travel 350 to 400 miles per charge, as The Associated Press reported.
Chrysler is part of Europe’s Stellantis, which last month announced a new strategy to embed AI-enabled software into millions of vehicles across its 14 different brands. This could gain Stellantis $22.6 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
This is all part of the race among automakers to produce more completely electric and hybrid cars that also have more autonomous driving features. Overall, this would begin shifting cars away from gasoline-powered engines.
As one of the main American brands of Stellantis, Chrysler will be on the front lines of this change in the auto industry in North America.

Stick with selling bottled water or a videogame or whatever else you make, Stellaris. This is a non-starter.
I think it’s about limiting people’s range of free travel. Like to about 100 miles one way.
And think how easy it would be to program cars in a way such that even if you plug it in to charge, it will not charge, if say, you've already driven too much over a certain period of time, or if the government determines, oh I don't know, if you haven't subjected yourself to certain jabs.
I would never deny that battery technology is a discovery on par with aspirin in the realm of medicine. There are some recent findings I was just reading about.

To be fair, it’s kind of a grudge match between me and the Neon now.
They were made to a price point by Chrysler. The low trade in was because they got a bad rep from some hit or miss design choices. The head gaskets were bad. The base paint options peeled. The shifters were notchy. But, they were also fairly quick for the time. The manual transmissions are bullet-proof. Very balanced handling with minimized torque steer. It’s very fun to drive. Good interior room for the size, and I like the funky styling.
Thank you. A clean running, efficient 2021 3.5l engine is at least as powerful as a dirty, gas hog 1971 fat block engine.
Very important if one is pulling a load, and the same principle applies across the board. The manufacturers know so much more about the fuel-air flow than they did in the old days. Let’s tell the truth, they’re only making this change because Xi and Joe are leaning on them so Xi can sell all the battery minerals and Joe can get his cut, which will go to a family member.
My son had a Chrysler that required taking off the front wheel to change the battery. What kind of stupid is that?
Assuming you are from Virginia, you obviously know nothing about long winters, snow conditions and snowmobiling.
You can probably do it with one of these
No way in hell am I going to spend $10K on a snowmobile that only gets between 60 and 100 miles and spend another $1800 on a 12V backup just in case I run out of juice on the trail. To say nothing about where I'm going to put it on my sled....LOL!

I recall my uncle was a MOPAR fan back in the 1960s & 1970s.
My father was always thought they were junk. He was a GM fan until the 1980’s when they started making junk. Finally, in 1988 he bought my mom a Honda Accord. My father fought the Japanese in WWII on New Guinea and Luzon. He came home from Luzon on a hospital ship. He always said “never trust a Jap, they are sneaky ba$tards”. So, it was really hard for him to buy a Japanese car.

After several close calls at closing up shop, Chrysler should say “If we’re still in business by 2028 we will force you to buy all electric if you buy from us. So there.”
Some of the frozen batteries in electric cars in the Virginia snowstorm gridlock this past week quickly degraded and then went dead at the wrong time. Didn’t look good.

Hopefully by 2028 climate change will keep all areas of America from having bad weather so the landscape is ripe for EV's.
