'People are going to die': Furious drivers snowed-in on Virginia's I-95 for more than 20 HOURS demand Gov. Northam speed up rescue efforts as they run out of gas and water - and call DoorDash for food! [Tim Kaine stuck}

Furious drivers stranded on I-95 in Virginia for more than 20 hours without gas, food and water are demanding that Governor Ralph Northam speed up rescue efforts as they resort to calling DoorDash in a dire effort to get food.

'We have to find a way to get national guard here. Diabetics and babies down here. People are going die here,' a friend told NBC's Jim Scarborough, who tweeted the quote in a plea to get people rescued faster as the 50-mile stretch of highway south of the nation’s capital was still closed Tuesday morning after six tractor-trailers jackknifed the day before.

Jim DeFede, who has been stuck on the interstate just south of Quantico for the past 24 hours, called I-95 'a complete parking lot' and was growing angry as his woes weren't answered and emergency personnel were not coming to his rescue.

'I don't know who's in charge but somebody better do something because there are cars and families just trapped here this entire time and nobody seems to be coming.

'I haven't seen a state trooper in at least 12 hours. I haven't seen a tow truck in at least 14 hours,' DeFede said in a video posted to Twitter.

Meanwhile, it appeared as though Northam was hoping the sun would help melt the snow and clear traffic. 'Sunlight is expected to help @VaDOT clear the road,' he said on Twitter.

But DeFede said that as of this morning, the road was still covered in ice.(snip)

Virginia State Senator Tim Kaine (snip) revealed that he is one of the people stuck in the snowy pile-up in a tweet early Tuesday that read: 'I started my normal 2 hour drive to DC at 1pm yesterday. 19 hours later, I’m still not near the Capitol.'

I had no idea that WV was a bedroom community of Rome-on-the-Potomac.

I recall a storm in that area between Tahoe and Truckee, that left businesses with no choice but to cut a hole out from the second floor. It was in the early 70’s. Fifty years of global warming and we are right back to the same weather cycle.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Most Americans couldn’t go 8 minutes without fast food let alone 48 hours. Gawd, the world would stop without Cinnebon and a 64 ounce Diet Coke for breakfast

Lol. I was looking over my supplies a couple of months ago and suddenly remembered that my old solar/battery/crank 5 band radio had died a couple of years ago. Got a new one just a month ago. ROTFL.

—”the only way they’re getting out is by tow truck and taken to the nearest charging station.”

They can be push/tow charged, thanks to regenerative braking.

“I had no idea that WV was a bedroom community of Rome-on-the-Potomac.”

Everyone is moving out from DC and Va to Eastern W.va esecially with the metro rail that goes straight into DC

We drove through there 3 years ago (W.va) One huge farm was open now it has 400-500-600 homes.

The growth is insane. People are moving from diversity to less diversity. Where my sister lived kin VA it is now 70-75% immigrants.
I walked into her local Target and I was the only white man.

” I remember a few years ago when northerners shamed us southerners for being stranded overnight due to ice on the road. Y’all can’t drive in the snow??? Tsk, tsk.”

Virginians ARE Southerners.

Yeah, they probably used all the money in the budget to “clear the roads” to “clear” all the Confederate monuments from the state. Hope they all freeze their asses to death.

“Florida!

Low 55, Sunny and 70 right now.”

Must be nice. In south Alabama it’s a freezing, miserable 53 degrees. Well, it’s not really miserable. You could get a suntan if you were so inclined, but still, 53 degrees. BRRRR!

I live a hour south of "da 'burgh" now, but lived in Polish during the St Patrick's Day Blizzard of '93.

Exactly 3' in one night.

They got almost 5' in the mountains.

Then there was '96.

Then nothing too bad until 2009 or 2010.

2' of wet, heavy fluffiness in one night.

Trees down across roads and power lines.

We didn't have power for 5 days, but I know some areas had no power for 2-4 weeks.

I wonder how many understand the rat party purposely dilutes American citizenship and harms our republic so as to keep the party in power.

I was in Chicago for the ‘67 deep freeze, in Buffalo in ‘76 and ‘86, and I forget when-all else. Blizzards sort of meld together in Buffalo. They’re kind of fun if you have a warm, dry place to stay and good outer wraps. Stuck on the road, however, is a bad place to be. Especially with the idiots in charge of the guvermint that presently rule.

I remember in rural Pennsylvania, all the plow operators started plowing from their homes the moment the snow started, and kept at it until it ended, and that way, with the help of a truck spilling salt or sawdust or both on the roads, traffic was totally unimpeded. That’s the sensible, proactive way to handle it. So of course they don’t do it now in Virginia, just wait to react until the problem is too big to ignore, then mis-manage it.

Sounds like Door Dash needs drones.

Snow mobiles.

Never heard of that before. How long does that take before the EV can drive off on its own? As a side note, how many tow truck companies have the ability to charge on site? Maybe I misunderstood your comment.......

Who's gonna protect the election stealers if they call out the Guard?

You mean the ones who thought, "This could NEVER happen to me." after hearing the PSAs for winter travel?
