Two Maryland hospitals declared a healthcare “disaster” on Friday as COVID-19 cases continue to rise at the Old Line State facilities.
The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health system made the “disaster” announcements for the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and the Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, according to The Washington Post.

Was it declared formally on parchment or did they just open up the hospital window and declare it out the window?
Seriously folks these are most likely patients in the hospital WITH Covid, and not because of it.
Pretty conservative areas.
75-80% of the patients are unvaccinated per the hospital.
Can’t help stupid
“Cases.”
A guy goes in for a pre-employment screen and they tell him he’s got the COVID, although he doesn’t feel sick at all, or just has the sniffles.
He is now a “case.”
From Omicron….zero.
How much is due to nosocomial spread...?
Perhaps we shouldn’t have fired nurses and doctors that didn’t conform to Bill Gates decrees.
DC, Maryland and Virginia have seen new daily case numbers explode to all time highs in the last week. (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#trends_dailycases - Select a state or territory from the drop down menu over the chart)
The next week or two is going to see lots of places pegging the meter on new cases.
Like never before.
Many here will call you a liar. Maddening.
I just saw a local (Seattle) report saying that Covid cases have increased 168% in recent days, but hospitalizations have only increased 2%.
And the hospital is likely lying to keep the fear porn going.
And you believe the government?
They’ve lied to us from the beginning.
If you believe them you are a fool.
RE: Maryland and Virginia have seen new daily case numbers explode to all time highs in the last week.
Case numbers again. We already know that Omicron is several times more infectious than the previous variants. What I want to know is:
1. How many percent of hospital beds are occupied by Omicron patients?
2. How many have died of Omicron?
“cases” = false positives.
COVID-positive Vermonters with no symptoms clog up ERs
Okaaaaay....
MD ‘Freak State’ Ping!
Given the gymnastics the CDC and hospital administrations in the US have used to define "vaccinated" - that number means nothing. Are they defining unvaccinated as not having received all two shots and the two boosters? Or having received the booster(s), but they received it less than two weeks ago (or over three weeks ago)?
“Many here will call you a liar.”
...or worse.
We can just talk to each other through the noise.
Earlier in the month, I predicted that Omicron would be in full bloom in the USA around Christmas. I would say that it now is, with several States/Territories hitting all time highs for new cases.
I am guessing a National peak around the second week in January, plus or minus a week or two. It should be a doozy of a peak - possibly maxing out test capacity, with the rest going uncounted. If case numbers suddenly level off (possibly due to reaching testing capacity limits), watch test positivity rates for a few days or weeks to gauge when the wave actually breaks.
Historically, CDC estimates that about one out of four actual COVID infections gets officially reported/counted. For Omicron, we could see a lot more asymptomatic infections, and a higher ratio of unreported cases - especially if testing capacity is exceeded.
Hospitals are wise to brace for a surge, although it seems likely that hospitalizations (or deaths) will not track case numbers like they have in past waves. Omicron is milder, immunity is more widespread, or some combination - whatever the cause, lower per case hospitalization rates have characterized earlier Omicron waves elsewhere, like Europe and South Africa. Hospitalizations seem on track to increase, but not go wild.
We have entered the boom phase of our Omicron wave. There is no need to freak out, but doubtless some will over the coming weeks.
Of course, it’s a lie. But we are supposed to believe it and run around with our hair on fire.
