(RNS) — In a sermon about wifely submission, the pastor of a New York City Seventh-day Adventist Church went on to suggest that husbands may rape their wives. “I would say to you gentlemen, the best person to rape is your wife,” said Burnett Robinson, senior pastor of Grand Concourse Seventh-day Adventist, a church located in the Bronx borough. The pastor’s words, captured in a 1 minute and 21 second video clip, were apparently preached on Nov. 13. They generated a Change.org petition calling for Robinson’s resignation. Is change.org a theological society now? I suppose that, being Communists, they are.
(I've never seen them work to "change" Communism--although the world beckons.)
Not going to speak to the subject matter, since I wasn't there and don't speak the 7th Day language.

Is he married?
Also it’s islamic.
All this clown has to do is swap his suit for some robes. Throw a turbin on and he’s good to go. Come out as gay too and he will be triple indemnified. Now if a white straight pastor said this. Well...

Sick religious cult leader.
Doesn’t even make any sense
What a weird and creepy thing to utter
What context would make this okay?

7DA are judiazers. After many interactions with them, this doesn’t surprise me at all.
Bob it, hell. She cut it clean off.

Historically, though, there has been a reticence about prosecuting spousal rape. The idea is that if that if you’re married to someone, there’s already a general consent to sexual activity with that person. So if it’s a violent encounter that includes rape maybe it was prosecuted as domestic violence but not rape per se. I’d imagine that there’s been a trend away from that mentality, but at the same time, I’d imagine that spousal rape prosecutions are still pretty rare.
