The players claim that a pro-Trump rally held near the campus shows that some protests are OK with the school. But the school pointed out that the Trump rally was held on city streets, not college grounds.
That didn’t satisfy the players: “So it’s OK for everyone to have a Trump rally with Confederate flags, but it’s not OK for us to kneel for our people who’ve fallen,” Christian said. “He didn’t have an answer for that.”
This is the mind of a child in the body of a college athlete. The Trump rally was not on the college grounds. The school had no connection with it. [College President David Olive] tried to explain that to all the children on campus.
“We are a private entity, not a governmental entity,” Olive said in his statement. “We have policies and guidelines throughout the student handbook and the academic catalog that limit certain rights you otherwise might have elsewhere, such as in your home or in a public venue. The most important to me as it pertains to this matter, however, is what I shared earlier. When someone puts on a uniform or is performing a function on behalf of Bluefield College, that person is now representing Bluefield College. Heightened expectations are now placed on that individual as to what s/he can and cannot do or say as a representative of the College.”

Fallacious conflation and they knew that when they tried.
You want to go kneel in a public area, have at it, all day long. The campus is not a public area and can make its own rules.

That's my take on it also. You don't see whitey protesting by kneeling when blacks are assaulting, killing or robbing whites. These black players simply hate whitey, get rid of them.
Possible federal funding received by Bluefield aside, players don’t seem to understand that Bluefield is a private college, not a taxpayer-supported college, Bluefield therefore not able to violate Section 1 of the 14th Amendment even if it wanted to imo.

On the other hand, taxpayer-supported UC Berkeley lost a free speech case awhile back, never mind that California taxpayers probably paid the settlement.

I hate to be a pessimist, but it IS the weekend.
Many a college President has reversed course during the week after such an occassion.
Of course! What better ‘in your face’ is there?
And then you get to see their faces when you inform them Lacrosse is a Native American creation and that the man who invented Basketball was a lacrosse coach who liberally took lacrosse rules to invent their sport!
They should have let the women’s team play instead.

Crushing it might be easier said than done. The "Woke" fad appears to be fading, like all fads do in time.
On a related note, I see people both black and white are tired of every TV commercial having either a black couple or a mixed-race couple. It's complete pandering, and everyone knows it.
Once these morons who run sportsball programs figured out how much $ the kneelers were costing them they cracked down on it pretty fast.

Good. Some of them will probably go on to be millionaire professional athletes and disrespect the flag that gave them that opportunity.
I don’t think they have athletic scholarships.
Bluefield College is a small school that doesn’t even
compete in the NCAA.
That means that sports isn’t a priority for this school.
Players should be made to understand that, and behave accordingly.
Kneel once - get a warning, run extra laps
Kneel twice - benched for the game
Kneel three times - dropped from the team
Three simple rules that would put an end to this.
If it’s NAIA they certainly give scholarships. NAIA actually can do more than NCAA schools.
