The Supreme Court on Monday denied former President Trump's request to halt the release of tax and other financial records to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.
In their ruling, the justices refused to block a subpoena to Trump's accounting firm, Mazars USA, while he continues to push for a Supreme Court appeal, according to Bloomberg.

The high court had deferred acting in the case for more than three months, waiting until Trump again became a private citizen to take a step that could boost Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance’s probe. Vance’s investigators have already gotten hold of some of the tax records from other sources, according to people familiar with the matter. The investigation looms as one of the biggest legal threats to Trump, though its exact parameters are unclear. - Bloomberg
In August, Manhattan prosecutors indicated in court filings that they were investigating tax fraud, insurance fraud and falsification of business records. DA Cyrus Vance agreed to hold off on enforcing the subpoena while Trump's Oct. 13 motion to stay was under consideration by the Supreme Court.
Trump's challenge to the subpoena - which claims it's too broad and issued in bad faith - was rejected by two lower courts prior to Monday's rejection at the Supreme Court. Mazars, meanwhile, isn't contesting the subpoena and says it will comply with all legal obligations.
While Trump's tax records will technically be shrouded in grand jury secrecy, Trump's lawyers told the Supreme Court that he will suffer "irreparable harm" if the materials are turned over, "Even if the disclosure of his papers is limited to prosecutors and grand jurors, the status quo can never be restored once confidentiality is destroyed."
Vance's office countered, saying that Trump "has had multiple opportunities for review of his constitutional and state law claims, and at this juncture he provides no grounds for further delay," adding "His request for extraordinary relief should be denied, and the grand jury permitted to do its work."
The court on Monday also denied Trump's challenge to the Pennsylvania 2020 election results as moot. Dissenting from the decision were Justices Alito, Gorsuch and Thomas.

The court also formally rejected separate appeals by Trump and his allies seeking to overturn President Biden's victory.
The law relied once again on Catch-22. If you try to block the illegal voting before the election you haven’t yet been injured and have no standing. If you wait until your election has been stolen the case is moot because the court isn’t going to overturn the results. Goodbye rule of law and the legitimacy of the Republic.
Don’t worry, this is simply the SC acting a part in the big, very secret Plan.
“...denied Trump’s challenge to the Pennsylvania 2020 election results as moot.”
Gosh, didn’t see that coming.
If you listened to Comey-Barrett’s confirmation hearing, she said that she wouldn’t be a rubber stamp for originalist decisions but listening to the merits of each case.
Both Kavanaugh and Barrett have young children. Perhaps they’re afraid. I wouldn’t put anything past the forces arrayed against our nation.
It looks like all-out war against President Trump now. SCOTUS will look the other way and hope it’s over soon. Thomas and Alito may be the only patriots left in the federal judiciary. Sad and tragic times.
At this point I have grave concerns about any matter before this court.
Gun control....
Constitutional Convention matters...
You name it, these folks are out to lunch.
There was no base crime that they wanted to confirm. So now the SCOTUS has made tax returns open to baseless fishing expeditions.
No need to have foundational merits to buttress the request, “Ah no your honor, we don’t have ANY evidence of wrong doing. We just want to see if we can find any.”
So Trump and others have no expectation that their private records will remain prove. And if the opposition wants to destroy businesses that did business with Trump, why that’s okay.
This was a terrible decision.
The Honorable Justice Thomas: "These cases provide us with an ideal opportunity
to address just what authority nonlegislative officials
have to set election rules,
and to do so well before the next election cycle.
The refusal to do so is inexplicable."
“Die, already, America. We serve Others.”
How did all the justices vote?
Absolutely. Moot? As if there will never be another election in the future?
Ammo box??
That will all change if and when the political parties are reversed.
The 5th Amendment is dead.
“Secession is the answer.” What’s the question?
The Dems will Pack the Court if they support Trump
Are you surprised. Seriously. This steal was in the bag from the beginning. He stayed in the basement and smiled about it because he knew what was coming. The most inclusive operation ever done. From top to the bottom. I bet 75-80% of Americans know or believe there was something wrong with the election and it should have been looked into. That’s what was right. But it was set up to run the clock out and deny and refuse to look at it. Total truth will never come out. Trump used common sense to change things to bring us to the front and succeed. The politicians were being cut out of it and they didn’t like it. They want power and money.
It’s all we have left. There’s no where for us to turn. The whole system is corrupt from the city, state, federal levels to corporate america to our elections and now the corrupt SCOTUS. We are two Americas. Why not just make it official.
It appears that the “we the people” option is approaching rapidly!
Alito, Gorsuch, and Thomas were in favor of looking at the cases. Kavanugh and Barret caved.
