Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admitted Thursday that traveling to Cancun, Mexico as his constituents suffered in freezing homes amid power outages was "obviously a mistake."

The Republican spoke outside his Texas home as a sizable group of protesters chanted just yards away.

"It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it," Cruz acknowledged. He reiterated his previous contention that he had gone in order to take his daughters to Mexico to get them out of the cold. "I was trying to be a dad," he said. "When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power, and they're saying 'Look, we don't have school, why don't we go - let's get out of here . . . " The senator will join Sean Hannity Thursday night on Hannity at 9pm et.

I’m in general agreement with your thoughts there.

I’ll be honest though, from my initially wanting Ted to be
VP, President, then a SCOTUS member, I have soured on the
guy to the point I want him out of the picture.

Looks are everything to a lot of the electorate. This smells a lot like “Let them eat cake!” to many of them.

He’s a back stabbing liar 🙄

You’re proof of that.

Ted did this to himself, and I haven’t watched CNN in over
two decades.

You really don’t get it, that you have to bury yourself
deeper with each new comment, because you just can’t accept
reality.

Ted is an idiot.

Trolls out in mass.

Now why do you think they are trolls just because they keep stabbing and stabbing at a Senator who votes in line with you 97-100% of the time, and want you to join in the stabbing frenzy?

I wouldn’t even be talking about this if a horde of people
hadn’t decided this was the hill to die on for Ted.

To anyone living in a northern state, or in Canada, that is hysterical. The idea of one inch of snow grinding everything to a halt?! :)

However this one was not so funny, as people died.

And that’s part of Senator Cruz’s problem.

He can’t call his constituents to see if they need anything? That’s the responsible thing.

What did he drink the water? Did he get a sunburn? I’d never apologize for Cancun!

Cuomo isn’t being ignored. They are taking him down.

So I suppose this means we are getting President Harris very soon.

Trump, even as a private Texan would have tried to get corporations to send generators or any other thing that could have helped out.

Trump, as President, would probably have prompted the same type of help. Texas didn’t vote for Biden, so does he care about helping them? IIRC, there was a difference during the ZerO administration in the speed and level of effort to help in natural disasters when they occurred in red states compared to blue states.

I do not care for Cruz and I never have since he came on the scene.

He has his fans and that is indisputable. Cruz fans would have us ignore the Constitution for his sake. That is what Rats do. They foist upon us Foreigners as their representation and we are expected to not notice.

Cruz may know the Constitution backwards, forwards, and inside out. Big deal, I suspect that Satan has read the Bible as well.

Cruz is a Clown.

I would suspect that is true.

If you’ll note, when the fires came to California over the
last few years, Trump put difference aside and tried to
help any way he could.

Newsom and others thanked him for it.

Biden is a dolt, and Kamala isn’t wise enough to handle this
sort of thing.

It’s a shame. I’m not up on what they are doing if anything
some I don’t have much to say about them.

If this were a thread about them, I would be weighing in.

I wouldn’t have addressed Ted here if there weren’t so many
folks trying to explain away his poor choice here.

Back in 2008 we had a huge ice storm in Cape Girardeau. No electricity for 5 days. Strangely neither U.S. Senator, nor our Representative, nor for that matter any elected official called to ask if I needed anything.

‘Looks like the left found their distraction from frozen windmills and snow covered solar panels’

and Cuomo, and Newsom, and Lost Biden, and 861,000 lost jobs.

Good gosh! Some are sounding just like the “Cancel Culture”....

If I had the opportunity to get my family out of a home without heat to a warmer climate I’d be on it in a heart beat regardless of what profession I was in.

That’s strange. Most of the time politicians are on top of things during an emergency. Only a few times did politicians fail. New Orleans and Texas.

Thanks for the comments.

My views on Ted have been somewhat similar to yours, but I’d
see us as acolytes rather than identical in our views.

I have made it as clear about Ted, as I have about Mitch.

Neither of them are my kind of Conservative.

People wanted to defend him on this, but I do think his
actions displayed terrible optics.

If I was going through a tough time in Texas right now, it
was really bother me if my Senator had snubbed Texans to
go on vacation in a Tropical zone.

Not every complaint about a person is unfair, just because
we happen to like them. I don’t think it takes a Democrat
to think Ted really screwed up here.
