Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admitted Thursday that traveling to Cancun, Mexico as his constituents suffered in freezing homes amid power outages was "obviously a mistake."
The Republican spoke outside his Texas home as a sizable group of protesters chanted just yards away.
"It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it," Cruz acknowledged. He reiterated his previous contention that he had gone in order to take his daughters to Mexico to get them out of the cold. "I was trying to be a dad," he said. "When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power, and they're saying 'Look, we don't have school, why don't we go - let's get out of here . . . " The senator will join Sean Hannity Thursday night on Hannity at 9pm et.

That’s for the people who said he wasn’t going to stay and was just an escort. He said on Hannity the plan was to go to the beach work remotely.... throughout the weekend.
But then had second thoughts and said we need boots on the ground.
Ted’s only mistake was apologizing.
Democrats never make that mistake.
You are quite the girly-man. You must be so proud.
I’m not a liberal for your information.
I responded to people defending Ted. I disagreed with then.
No, you can’t fix everything, but fixing everything is NEVER
an option of reality.
You do things to be visible and let folks know you are pulling
for them. You role up your sleeves and help out some way.
No one expects a president or Ted to ‘fix everything’.
They can’t, and they never do.
If I were a U. S. Senator from Texas, I could not have done
what Ted did. I have said so.
If Cruz was a liberal the headlines would be “Senator Cuts Vacation Short!”
Thanks for the mention.
If Ted didn’t make a mistake why is he admitting he made a mistake?
He is right to admit he made a mistake and life will go on and so will Ted.
The truly stupid part of this is that he could have been stuck out of the country with a positive Covid test for weeks on end.
For this alone he deserves to have be lambasted.
Poor judgement.
For stating I couldn’t have gone on vacation at a time like
this, you call me a girly-man.
Smile...
If that was an attempt to anger me or put me down or hurt
my feelings, I’d say you’re the girly-man.
If rolling up my sleeves and helping in a make-shift
food kitchen, or helping do some other menial task that
would help out in some way, makes me a girly-man, I’d be
very proud to be a girly-man.
I’d also be doing interviews and telling the people of
Texas that I was sorry for what they were going through
and would to my best to make sure these issues are
addressed and never happen again.
Senators do things to help their own state all the time.
Just so you’ll know, that doesn’t make them a girly-man.
Tiny violin 🎻
Yes, it does.
The fact that you felt compelled to deny it proves it.
The buildings in Cape Girardeau are probably built with far more insulation than those in a southern state.
We got the same storm Texas got. But happily our power has remained on. During the coldest, windiest days, the heater was only able to get the temp up to 67Âş. Now that it’s warmed up to the 20s the place is livable.
Learning from the storm I bought a generator and in early ‘20 had an electrician instal a bypass circuit so that we get three rooms with electricity and power to the heating system.
Cruz may have an Ivy League education, but apparently none of his professors were ever up to the task of sharing SFC Hildebrand's wisdom. It's a shame as it might have spared Cruz this entire fiasco of his own making.
“And did you start crying that no mommy politician called?”
Exactly!

Thank Bond and McCaskill for help surveying the damage and working physically with their constituents to find out their needs.
I’ve told you before “rummychick”. your fake conservative act doesn’t play with me, save your BS for someone that might buy it.
exactly.
On the other thread about this, one of my posts:
Amid speculation that Cruz could be tapped as the Republican presidential candidate in 2024, a bevy of celebrities and prominent Democrats—seemingly starved of engagement in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s Twitter ban—jumped at the opportunity to criticize him on social media after reports emerged of his trip. Some Democrats said Cruz should resign from office.

So the Cruz haters are aligning with the democrats on this.
