‘Wanted to Be a Good Dad’: Ted Cruz Responds to Criticism He Traveled to Cancun Amid Texas Power Crisis
The Epoch Times ^ | 2/18/21 | Jack Phillips

Posted on 02/18/2021 3:01:21 PM PST by Bearshouse

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded to allegations that he flew to Cancun, Mexico, in the midst of record cold temperatures and snowfall in Texas—which has been besieged by power outages over the past several days.

Cruz appeared to confirm that he went to Cancun, saying that “with school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”

“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” he said in a statement on Thursday, referring to the power outages and, in some cases, loss of water.

Texas and GOP presidential primary voters will be very understanding and sympathetic to your plight and struggle.

It's not very likely that the CommiecRAT programmed Dominion vote fraud machine would select an ineligible semi-Republician.

He’s one of 535 people who can, isn’t he...

But who’s going to take him seriously if he’s calling from freaking Cancun.

Because it blew up in his face when he got caught and had to change his ticket.

So your family comes 2nd??

According to the Senate calendar this is a "State Work Week", not a "Take your kids to Cancun week".

What exactly was Cruz supposed to accomplish in the 24 hours he was away from Texas. Should he have stayed and used a hairdryer or a blow torch on the frozen wind turbines and oil rigs.

Where is his wife ?

In Cancun with the kids would be my guess. Or do you think Cruz compounded the problem by leaving those kids in Cancun unchaperoned?

This IS Bidens Katrina.

He’s nowhere. That’s because:

a.He’s a democrat and, seriously, because of that he is off the hook for any responsibility except for keeping abortion legal

b. He works for/represents another nation, not the US

c. He has dementia. He won’t be doing anything

d. He was not elected by the US electorate because of all of the above so he was never expected to work for us, and never will be.

However, that is a good comeback when faced with the Cruz question. However it is irrelevant. Cruz is tone deaf and that’s hi problem.

Weird how going on vacation qualifies as being a good dad according to the master debater. My Dad showed up for his job year-round and never took me on vacation. Would not trade him in a second. Aside from it being a gaffe, he’s showing some strange sense of values for a leader.

I don’t think so either.

He would have found corporate support for some sort of
relief effort.

There would have been a massive mobilization to help these
folks.

Biden doesn’t seem to get it either. Maybe he’s doing
something by now that I haven’t heard of.

Presidents can help in situations like this, but many
times it’s just the idea that they tour the zone in
trouble and get first hand information from those tasked
with making things better.

Ted could find out what the problems were, and introduce
some legislation to get things back on track.

Across the nation folks need to realize these wind and
solar farms are a boondoggle.

Quit acting as if we can depend on them. Better now before
others have to suffer through terrible times.

“ I thought Texans knew how to buck up in the face of adversity.”

Why did you think that?

Welcome the the bad optics / tone deaf club Ted! While fellow Texans are doing the right thing trying to keep their families from freezing to death, why not fly down to Mexico during a pandemic and work on that tan! Oh and do some tequila shots with some teenagers while your at it. I'm sure the people that put you in office will cheers your dumbass decision....once they thaw out their families.

Senators don’t DO anything. Which is why stying home avoiding looking like the elitist non hero from hell would have been all that was expected of him.

I'm waiting for the news that this deep freeze is OBVIOUSLY a product of global warming.

Except it did happen 132 years ago...so logic tells me it was warming 132 years ago...exactly like it is today.

Politicians do photo ops all the time.
It’s a big part of what they do.
You know that.
Cruz was wrong and he knows it.
That’s why he hurried back to Texas
on the first available flight(without his wife and kids)
He could have meet with Abbott.
He could have been in Texas demanding Federal Disaster Assistance.
Anything. Just be in Texas doing it.

Ted Cruz can't save the state of Texas

Ted Cruz is just as psychologically beat up as WE are and though he's "a politician", he's still a man with a family.

Ted Cruz will come back because the leftist public demands it and will accomplish nothing tangible for the state of Texas.

It's out of Ted Cruz's hands

Amid speculation that Cruz could be tapped as the Republican presidential candidate in 2024, a bevy of celebrities and prominent Democrats—seemingly starved of engagement in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s Twitter ban—jumped at the opportunity to criticize him on social media after reports emerged of his trip. Some Democrats said Cruz should resign from office.

..... from the article.

Cruz is a sitting senator while a hostile administration is in office...

An administration that would clearly love to see Texas punished.

And what does Cruz do?

He bugs out.

Cruz, you are contemptible.
