Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admitted Thursday that traveling to Cancun, Mexico as his constituents suffered in freezing homes amid power outages was "obviously a mistake."
The Republican spoke outside his Texas home as a sizable group of protesters chanted just yards away.
"It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it," Cruz acknowledged. He reiterated his previous contention that he had gone in order to take his daughters to Mexico to get them out of the cold. "I was trying to be a dad," he said. "When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power, and they're saying 'Look, we don't have school, why don't we go - let's get out of here . . . " The senator will join Sean Hannity Thursday night on Hannity at 9pm et.

Hitting back like Trump, he should have said the ERCOT BOARD are the ones that should have been here for the last 6 years figuring out how to supply energy Texas, instead of sitting far away and deciding to plant useless windmills next to oilfields.
Get a grip. He took a vacation.
He isn’t the state FEMA director. He is a Senator. If this was a dem, it would not be an issue.
Stop buying the BS.
You are an idiot
Cruz is on Hannity now.
He made a mistake and admits it.
Or do you think he is lying about making a mistake?
Which one is it?
>He isn’t the state FEMA director. He is a Senator.
Yep, don’t know what he can do that can’t be done from a phone in Cancun. Not a big Cruz fan but don’t care about this.
None of the protesters voted for him or any Repub. Can you say astroturf?
TY cause the poster above you seems to think I’m a liar like lying Ted. I had 2 small kids so I left on a late flight for a 1 wk business trip so I could put them to bed. Frightening arriving at dallas American Airlines terminal announcing airport closed. A man on the flight offered to rent a car and drive me to the hotel. Afraid to take him up in his gracious offer.
That’s strange. Most of the time politicians are on top of things during an emergency.
The ice storm was so bad, that the roads were virtually impassable. Even walking around my house was pretty much impossible, because as soon as there was any slope at all, you started sliding down hill.
Again, any failure on the part of politicians in either Texas or New Orleans was on the local/state level. Either not anticipating the disaster or failing to deal with it. Yes, I remember the school buses in the flooded parking lot. The mayor saying his people needed Greyhounds to evacuate not school buses. Like Trump, GWB got blamed for not imposing his will on governors even though that’s not how our system of government is supposed to work.
Says he took Heidi and the girls down to the beach and he initially planned to stay throughout the weekend. But then had second thoughts. - Ted on Hannity
And did you start crying that no mommy politician called?
This is really sickening to see so many so emotionally attached and effected that Cruz was a meanie and didn’t appear to care, instead caring for his own family.
This is why the country is doomed. So many, so emotionally dependent on the idea that big nanny government must always “DO SOMETHING”.
Reagan was right, the nine most terrifying words in the English language: “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.”
Too bad you don’t spend half as much energy attacking Democratic-Communists.
I am really amazed at the stupidity of people. The state has all kinds of problems from electricity to water. Does anyone believe that the only person to leave a state whose disaster problems are everyone’s is him? And what do they seem to think he should do?
Put money into the system for repair? FEMA and the President do that.
Implement disaster plans for the state? Governor does that.
Utilize in place tools to save people like sleeping and feeding locations. Mayors do that.
Protect against unlawful acts. Police and guard do that at the command of the governor.
There is nothing he can do so he went somewhere where he was protecting his family. And by doing so took away his competition for power and water.
He is a citizen when this happens. And things like this happen:
Hurricane Harvey
The 1900 Galveston Hurricane
Hurricane Carla
Tropical Storm Allison
Hurricane Rita
Hurricane Ike
2015 Memorial Day Flood
Every one of these situations cause people to bail. I’m not a big supporter of Cruz, but the only thing he did was lobby against the impeachment trial of Trump on social media calling it the kangaroo court it was thus embarrassing the liberals. But I guess that’s all it takes.
He did nothing but protect his family and nothing others didn’t do and haven’t historically done. This is just another liberal attack on a conservative. I think he should have told them where to get off.

Cape Girardeau is about 500 miles north of Houston and more than 800 miles north of Brownsville. The buildings in Cape Girardeau are probably built with far more insulation than those in a southern state.
Continued...i walked outside at midnight not knowing what to do. God sent an angel. A taxi driver originally from PA who knew how to drive on snow and ice. Slept with dirty sheets and towels for the week. The hotel workers couldn’t get to work. It was awful.
I figured he’d have some thought to explain it. Maybe folks
will buy it.
I wouldn’t.
Too bad you are so clueless.
On a thread about Ted Cruz, what did you expect me to address,
wafer cookies?
But Ted is from the government, HE MUST DO SOMETHING TO SAVE EVERYONE!!!
