Aunt Jemima is making her last batch of pancakes.
Quaker Oats said Tuesday that its Aunt Jemima brand pancake mix and syrup will be renamed Pearl Milling Company. Aunt Jemima products will continue to be sold until June, when the packaging will officially change over.
Quaker Oats, a division of PepsiCo Inc., had announced last June that it would retire the Aunt Jemima brand, saying the character’s origins are “based on a racial stereotype.” The smiling Aunt Jemima logo was inspired by the 19th century “mammy” minstrel character, a Black woman content to serve her white masters. A former slave, Nancy Green, became the first face of the pancake products in 1890.

I always liked Log Cabin, myself; until I discovered that you can get REAL maple syrup.
(Probably mostly made by and celebrating Northern White people and culture...but I guess the Quaker people just don’t want to cultivate any kind of diversity...)
Is it available at the market?
They can Pearl Jam that bottle where the sun don’t shine.
When I used to buy so-called instant rice, it was always Uncle Ben’s.
I will continue to avoid products that are “woke” as much as possible.
I have not had Chik-fil-A since Dan Cathy went all woke (once again) it seems.
What, real maple syrup?
It’s usually in the same aisle where you buy honey -
- and it’s a lot more spendy than the corn-syrup crap, but worth it. (Like anything really ‘quality’, a little of it goes further than a lot of the cheap stuff will):

Apparently. It’s all so ridiculous.
I always enjoyed both of those products.
I’ve never really liked Chik-Fil-A. I like Popeye’s.
(But I’ve OD’d on the spicy chicken sandwich, at this point...)
Thanks. I’ll give it a shot.
I just checked. She’s still alive at 76. Someone should ask her opinion.
Clutching pearls...
“put an end to racism?”
No way! Pearl Milling is a darker black woman who does not have her hair in a neat coif, she sports a long AFRO frizzy hair do that jumps down your throat and stings your eyes like no other label could ever do!!!!!
“And you say I ain’t refined? Sheeit!”
“Can’t you see that woman who is running for governor is a NI!”
Depending on where you are and your available resources, you can make it yourself; and we’re coming up on the time for it:

(I’ve seen videos of this done on indoor stoves, but it’s probably not a great idea :-)
Stacy’s Asphalt Cookies. They’ll sicken the tar outta ya!
It boggles the mind.
The warm, polite smile of a grandmother is now gone from a common household product.
How, exactly, does removing this image of a black woman from the store shelves and from our homes supposedly going to reduce racial prejudice?
She also sang the National Anthem at the Superbowl two years ago: https://www.mediaite.com/online/gladys-knight-defends-singing-national-anthem-after-don-lemon-suggests-it-could-hurt-her-career/
I’d be tempted to buy THAT before I’d buy something as nondescript as ‘Pearl Mining’.
As someone else said, the latter sounds ‘off-brand’ - which I usually interpret as inferior.
Then there would be complaints about removing a beloved African American icon from the collective consciousness and replacing it with a Devil White Woman of British Ancestry...
They’re never going to be happy or get a clue - until their profits fall. Just wait for it...
Big Pearl.
