Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday circulated to colleagues a memo outlining the procedure for holding another trial for President Trump if the House impeaches him for a second time in just over a year.
The document, which was first reported by The Washington Post, lays out how the Senate would proceed if the House approves articles of impeachment and transmits them to the upper chamber before or by Jan. 19, when senators are scheduled to resume regular business after the January recess.

Kentucky does not allow for a recall.
He may be distributing material, as is his job, to inform members that it normally takes 25 days to fully impeach a President. Maybe that will quell the rush to impeach. Who knows?
Yes, so they can’t remove him from office.
They can’t.
Waller comments on that here:
“The Constitution defines who is subject to impeachment (Article II, section 4). It stipulates, “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” The Senate must vote separately to bar an impeached official from office. That vote, unlike the vote to convict, requires a simple majority. But that vote is not in order until after the Senate has voted to convict the official based on the articles of impeachment. The Senate cannot remove someone from office if they are not in that office. And absent a conviction vote, the Senate cannot bar someone from holding future office. The consequences of giving Congress this power would be to allow it to bar private citizens from holding office preemptively.”
You know federal office cannot be recalled, don’t you?
I guess he’s ready to end his political career and this is the note he wants to go out on. Oh offing well.
It was sarcasm.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing- hear me out...
1) if they try and impeach him it will only make his supporters such as myself more fervent about him...
2) it would be nothing but bad optics for the rest of DC, impeaching a President that’s out of office...

Gee I loved reading that. I think I’ll post it again.

Jan. 19: A trial to remove POTUS one day before his term expires?
What the bleep would that accomplish, would they convince Pence to decline to be sworn in so Piglosi would become the hysterical first womyn president for 12 hours?
Somehow it reminds me of the Queen Bee syndrome. Queen Nancy could not tolerate being upstaged by Klamydia Harris, so the latter would have to settle for being the second female prez.
Republicans and conservatives, need to start a new political party.
And that new party should pledge its allegiance to Trump and to other REAL American patriots.
Perhaps call it the “American Patriots Party”? Anything but republican.
And don’t allow anyone into the party that did not support Trump or conservatism in the last 4 years, especially in the last 3 months.
How do you impeach a president an hour after he has ceased to be President?
I’m no fan of Turtle; but Thank You, Zhang Fei.
[Apparently they can impeach him after he leaves office.]
They are what they always were. Med dogs.
idiots they impeach him and convict him. don jr will run with millions of supporters its a shallow vindictive move not based on fact.. he can present evidence..
The Turtle is being mighty accommodating here..since he could just run out the clock? This week sure has been illuminating!
That should get mitch a dominion landslide victory.
Read beyond the headline.
We have a treaty deal with the aliens not to reveal their presence, we won’t dare to expose that, they would crush us like ants.
