Do current TV ads reflect the current demographics in the US? If so, over half the US couples are bi-racial or gay. I guess I just haven't been paying attention to what's going on around me. Anyone else notice this, or am I just watching different ads?
Oh and I almost forgot: The new prototype of a Black woman is one with almost pale white skin, White features and long straight hair.
Television programming, including advertisements, don’t necessarily reflect demography.
In the ‘60s, there were many sitcoms that featutred rural settings and or characters. Westerns a few years before that. Spy shows from throughout it ‘60s. There were probably more hit black sitcoms in the ‘70s than now (Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, That’s My Mama, What’s Happening!, Good Times, Grady).
The shows were of funny, and had good characters and actors and actresses.
Broadcast television is different now, due to competition from cable and on-line channels, as well as competition from web sites for viewing time.
There might be a difference that goes beyond merely following a fad. In the case of commercials, the people who make them, and the people who protest against ones that are not P.C. are mostly cut from the same cloth.
Kinda funny you stated “straight”, but didn’t clarify THAT!
Yep, the same types that say “flyover country.”
Also lol for the “crazy white guy” as the idiot or whacky neighbor who is the butt of the joke.
Dads/husbands are always portrayed at incompetent fools.
Any judge on tv is now black and usually female.
Libs live in big cities and they control the media. They pay big bucks to keep their kids away from black and brown people but want to preach to the flyover country people being terrible racists.
They are pushing the envelope. Sometimes it looks stupid and other times ‘workable’. Hollywood took the necessary lead in the beginning. they were also guilty showing blacks in a negative manner. Then there’s the over sexualizing of everyday life. We are being led for good and bad mostly bad.
EYE BLEACH!!!!
Where is the Emergency Eye Wash Station !!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the birth control commercial featuring several unattractive/fat/lesbian-looking women. They are their own birth control.
They are stepping on their own toes. They are creating a hate that was not there before.
Contact these product and service companies and tell them you are sick of it and never going to purchase from them anymore.
They get enough of these contacts and they will stop.
The ads have slowly been moving the cultural view for about 20 years, advent of woke has them now with everything e felt children humping legs.
It is getting That bad. And the FCC... Silent
And the other half have a Black male head of household and a White wife. It's become hilarious.
I actually don’t whine too much about the guy-as-moron thing, at least not in TV programs.
Why? I think it’s kind of sexist in itself. Women cannot be funny. Thus, the man has to be funny. Funny means stupid stuff. So the guy is stupid because that is funny. And women just apparently aren’t funny. It ain’t proper to show them funny, not lady-like.
Lucy aside, think about it. Basically no women have really been the funny ones ever, in TV shows. Any you pick will be the exception proving the rule, especially in the old days.
One thing to, is whenever it’s a White Male and Black Woman it’s always a decent looking White guy but a butt ugly Black Girl.
Instead of a Halle Berry or Taylor Rooks type, the guy instead going out with a Stacy Abrams or Maya Angelou clone.
Good luck, it’s going to be on every magazine rack in America.
Indeed.
We should take a drink every time we see another homo or bi-racial couple.
What I noticed in the black person is always helping a white person out of a bad situation.
Then black guy bringing back the dog that white person lost etc.
Never would be sober again.
One of the best memes of all time.
