Letter from a friend (vanity)
Vanity

Posted on 12/07/2020 9:11:36 AM PST by far sider

I received this letter from my friend (actually, my best man in the 1980s) on election day and I have not yet responded. It's probably a wasted effort, but if anyone has any words of wisdom I can impart to the guy, feel free to comment. Thanks.

"My depression has everything to do with the damage that has been done to this country in the last 4 years. I’ve been driven from the Republican party because of what it has become and the principles it has abandoned. I now have no choice except country over party. I wish it had not come to this.

I have to sift through a lot of news sources these days to get the truth-Fox, the Guardian, CNN, the Atlantic and a dozen others. Facebook is spreading lies and hate. And I listen to what the president has to say. What I see is: A man who wants to divide the country, who mocks people, who is only interested in himself. What gives me hope is all of the groups that have sprung up to oppose him in this election: Veterans, evangelicals, ex-republicans, officials that have served in this and previous republican administrations. It may not be enough, but it gives me hope that we have not completely descended into nationalism.

Thanks for reading this and trying to understand where I coming from. I just hope the country can reach back to find its core greatness, which I think is the ability for all of us to see ourselves as Americans first and value all of our countrymen (and women)-even those we disagree with. I’m a McCain republican (if there is such a thing)- I can respect and work with a democrat without demonizing them.

Here’s hoping our country can heal. Our leaders will never be perfect. We just have to vote like our country depends on it.

Your friend, B----

P.S. I’m glad we can be friends even though we don’t agree (maybe at all) on this. That is what is dying in this country."

Trump did seriously disrupt the progressive agenda and McCain Republicans hate him for it.

I received this letter from my friend (actually, my best man in the 1980s) on [...]

What?! He was your best man during an entire decade?!

Why not just instead say, "He was my Best Man for my third wedding, held on Aug. 6, 1982?"

Regards,

Your “friend” is a deranged moron who will soon turn on you like a rabid pitbull. Save yourself a lot of grief and just let him go.

You didn't mention if your friend has a title, ...

might it be "Commissar"?

Just remind your friend who it was that said they were going to impeach Trump literally days after he was elected and before he even had a chance to start doing all the heinous things your friend is accusing him of....

My only response would be along the lines of...the vitriol escalated on the left first and for many years..so what your seeing is the response of those unjustly accused and attacked who have had enough. anything beyond this, examples and such, will just be ignored.

It’s not an unforgivable sin that you were so hard up for friends in the 80’s.
Why one of my brothers is a Godzilla-class numbnuts that when asked-
“Why did you push that button marked ‘Push To Burn House Down’?”
would answer-
“I wanted to see if it was working.”
Alas he is my brother and my mother loved him.

Do his eyes look like this when he talks?
/oo\

Ignore it. I got a letter like that before the election, copied to hundreds, from the family patriarch. He fancies himself quite the wordsmith, and it was l-o-n-g, a tortured, sanctimonious litany of every lib talking point, and a plea to save this world from Trump. By the time I was finished, I could barely breath. I suspect 90% of the recipients were emotionally moved. I expect a similar one at Christmas, with a celebration of our healing process.

To say 5% of what I want to would be family WAR. But I will never speak to him civilly again, and he will bot be in this house again.

Ask your “friend” this: (1) How much election fraud is acceptable? How much is too much? (2) Is he familiar with the Hunter Biden scandals, and Joe’s involvement related to Ukraine and China? Does he think this is acceptable background for POTUS? (3) What changes does he think will take place in the USA over the next 4 years, if Biden is affirmed as POTUS? Is he okay with these changes, and the future paths they will lead to?

“a bloodless coup using faked ballots instead of bullets.”

Bullets and blood to come later. After that, ballots won’t matter ever again.

Your friend is an idiot or an ahole.

We are trying to save our Republic.

Tolerating those who are helping the destruction of our Republic is enabling them.

They need to feel the pain of being stupid/subversive/brainwashed or outright treasonous.

Tell your Rat Fool that if the RATs did not want the country divided (any further) then the evil scumbags should not have stole the landslide victory of the most popular Republican since Reagan.

The problem is that Democrats don’t respect us and have been unwilling to work with Republicans for the last 30 years. I would suggest that you respond by letting him know that you cannot be friends any longer. To do so is to give implicit approval of his feelings and his politics. I have made a commitment to avoid and denounce anyone I know who had voted for Biden...and that includes my favorite Uncle Stan and several neighbors around me.

Tell him to check the balance in his 401(k) and compare it to what it was four years ago.

Piss off and go bugger yourself, would be my advise.
